Evan Tanner
I do not know if many of you have ever heard of the UFC former champion Evan Tanner. Nevertheless, he was found dead in the California desert this past Monday. He apparently was on a solo trip to "find himself".
Mr. Tanner was from Amarillo, Tx and was well known and trained with in my area. He was a good friend to many professional fighters I know and train with.
This is a sad example of passion over knowledge. Apart of what the Sayoc Primitive Skills curriculum teaches is to be well versed and prepared before you ever take on a challenge... like a week alone in one of the hottest places on earth.
A great loss that was perhaps avoidable.

I read about the incident and wondered if you knew him.
It's always tragic when a person dies young.....especially one who has a gifted future.

We spoke briefly about the incident last night in the Adult class. This was a tragic loss.
