Shot Gun Lessons
I've learned a lesson in shot guns.
In all the years i've hunted with and as of late, trained with shot guns... I've never encountered this issue.
Debbie bought me a nice fathers day gift from Academy Sports... A tacticle 12 guage pump. Its very simple and holds 5+1. Not bad for the price she gave. To my dismay, as I was putting my shot gun together, cleaning it, and then loading it... I could only get two shells in it. I was hacked to say the least.
You see I've never bought a new shot gun before. All of mine have been private exchanges or hand downs. So I marched up to the store and told the manager about my great disappointment in their new Mosberg Tacticle.
The manager calmly handed the gun to some old clerk... "I thought... here we go"... and the clerk immediately asked me. "Well, sir... did you take the plug out the thing?" I said... "plug... what plug?". He then took the barrel off, turned the gun upside down and a six inch wooden dowel slid out... "Ohh" I said... "That could be the issue."
I found out that new shot guns come with a plug to keep their new owners from violating hunting codes that only allow them to have two to four rounds of ammo in the gun at a time. I've learned something!
Humbly I retort this encouter to all of my ATF brothers and sisters. Before you take back your tacticle home defense weapon because it doesn't hold as many rounds as it should... first check and see if there's a little stick stuck inside... WHO KNEW?
