Re: Surviving Disaster
it was very good informatian!!! but when you get in a plane what if there more people than the show ,and many things could go a different direction than you were planing ,and what if you didnt tell the air forse in time and they shot you down before you got to the **** pit ,and signal that you are good. you got to think about that and when you get on a plane you shouldn't keep you eyes pealed wait in for terrorist attacks if you know what i mean. if that makes sence

Re: Surviving Disaster
Paul Hein,
"Keeping our eyes peeled" is the only thing that does make sense. We have to be aware of our surroundings as much as possible. If people put on their head phones, inibriate themselves, go to sleep, and check out in general they will be oblivious to what is going on around them. Self-defense starts with awareness! Without it there is no defense at all!
And yes there are always a million what ifs to any scenerio. The ideal is to do the best you can with what you have. Proper training and preparation is the way to utilize this ideal so to be resourceful and prepared for what intel you can muster.

Re: Surviving Disaster
I have not seen this yet, but I have my dvr set to record it tonight. This episode is on surviving fire................one of my greatest fears is do die by fire (along with drowning). This sounds like a good episode for me to watch.

Re: Surviving Disaster
I watched this last night - on surviving a fire in a high rise building - and I would like to say that I would be one of the ones who could remain calm and take charge. I have a HUGE fear of fire and just watching the episode made my heart race and my chest tighten. I think I would be one of the ones who completly panics and all of you would have to knock some sense into me!
HOWEVER, I did learn some very interesting things that I would not have thought of before. Taking a picture of the escape route on your cell phone I thought was an outstanding idea. I know I would be panicking and would not be able to remember the escape route. Texting someone your location every few minutes was also a great idea. Oh yeah, one of you will have to push my butt off the ledge to the giant air mattress below because I don't think I would be able to jump 7 stories on my own! Other than that, I feel a little more confident in my survival rate after watching this show.
Thanks for letting me know about this show. I have my DVR set to record future episodes.
Maybe some day something I saw in one of those shows would save my life.
