Bushfires raging, the latest news here....
We're hearing a lot about the bushfires across Victoria. So far 65 confirmed deaths, and mostly from people trying to drive out in their cars. We used to think that hanging back and fighting the fires to saves our homes was the best way to go, but going by the latest unpredictable outcome of the fires over the past week, it's put that theory to the test.
Closeby in Hazelwood, the fire is still out of control and firefighters are estimating several days fighting to get it under control. A friend of ours lost his shed and porche in Calignee, with 5 lives lost, also not far from us. Hubby and I went swimming in Cowwarr Dam for a couple of hours, the heat rose to 45 degrees. We lost night lights for several hours, ans our car was covered in dark ash. Took a couple of washes at the local car wash to get rid of it.
Thankfully we got a bit of rain, but when we got home, our house is covered in soot, black as, and all over the concrete, grass, plants.
We are living in interesting times.....
