Almost hit the jackpot!
Enjoyed a great weekend of diving and water detecting. Found $30.81 in modern coins and a heap more of pre-decimals too. Two silver rings, one junk, and an 18ct gold band.
But the most interesting find was my very first half crown!!! It is very, very worn, and dates 18_1, but after some research discovered that it dates 1831. The head on it is of King William IV.
Apparently, had the coin been in reasonable condition, it would fetch in Aussie dollars anywhere between $1,500.00 to $3,000.00! :D

Angela, an excellent result for your diving efforts, the half crown was a really great find !!!
Love the pics.
At low tide I am off to a local beach today, it may be OK after yesterday's storm, I seriously doubt that I can match your finds!!!!!!!

Thanks Brain, and all the best with your hunt! Sounds like you'll have a good day for it. I find after a good storm, the sand washes away making it easier to get to the deeper, older stuff. All the best with it!

Thanks Andrew, and it wasn't cold. I'm in a drysuit. I wear track pants, 3 t-shirts and a woolen jumper plus thermal socks under my suit, so i was toasty warm and dry! =D

hi Angela, you sure had a good dive , lots of goodies, i love the photos ,the underwater one reminds brings back memories from my younger days .
nice to see the half crown , pity about the condition .
