Re: What to do with them?
HI VEG ,
read this http://www.ramint.gov.au/about/policies/worn_and_damaged.cfm
get a vice , (the metal type) not drugs women or booze and flaten them , use in vending machines , Some COM Banks have a money counting Machine , you put your coins in, it counts them and prints a slip of paper and they give you the cash .... they even taqke sandy ones lol

Re: What to do with them?
I got a 2kg hammer and a nice slab of concrete that straightens the coins out pretty quickly, after which it is just a small amount of filing if need to remove any sharp edges before macca's etc get paid with them :D
I've found they can be a little out of shape so not all will go through vending machines.... sometimes I'll add a few to other coins already bagged and take to the bank (or credit union) as the case may be..... the few I have here now are either heavily corroded (salt water) and weigh light or are half, three quarter etc coins.... cheers!

Re: What to do with them?
Hit them with hammer then go and change them for 1dollar coins at pokey venue. They wont worry if the coins are not perfect. The mint will take damaged coins and exchange them for good ones. I believe even 1 &2 cent pieces can also be cashed in at the mint.seeya Neilo

Re: What to do with them?
Wow, that's some photos of the beaten up coins Teejay! I keep all my bent up, wrecked coins. I've also got a small cash almost filled to the brim with 1 & 2 cent coins found over the years detecting. I just like to look at them every now and then.

Re: What to do with them?
The 1 and 2 cent coins , penny and half penny are %97 copper , copper sells at 6339 U.S. a tone , you would need 192 , 2cent coins to make up 1 KG and would have the value of 6.34 U.S. but the face value would be only 3.84 Aus , So hang on to your copper ...
2 cent 5.18gms , 1cent 2.59gms, 1 penny 9.45 grms and half penny 5.67 grms ........
