My New PistolProbe - Love It!!

Hi Guys and Girls,

A couple of months ago I posted a message asking for advice on detecting probes. I was going down the path of a Sunray for my Soverign GT, but after ordering it from a supplier in W.A. and waiting over 11 weeks, my patience ran out!!! Very poor customer service.

Anyway, I'm not a grumpy old man (yet) and this story has an upside. I got online and ordered a PistolProbe directly from the U.S. It arrived in 8 days and the service and communication was great.

I took the probe out on the weekend, and although my finds were only a few decimal coins,it worked a treat! I'm very happy with it - thanks for the advice.

Now for a spot of detecting wisdom from Confussious. "He who wears steel cap boots when metal detecting is sure to find his feet". Don't laugh - I bloody did it! Lol. emoticon

Re: My New PistolProbe - Love It!!

Hi mike
I have used a Pistol Probe now for about a year and a half. I would'nt detect without it, It leaves the rest of these probes in the dark. They dont work with Minelab Explorers and E-Tracs as these cause the probe to "chatter" and this makes it unstable and hard to use. The only complaint i had was the rubber button wears out with use. Mine wore out . So i replaced it with a decent sturdy homemade button and this did the trick. It's now better than the original button it came with.Practice with it and don't set the thresh-hold to high. You'll get up to 4-6" on a 10 cent piece. I first locate a target with my X-Terra 70, then i use the pistol probe to pinpoint it exactly over the top of the target. I then use a probe to feel for the coin and pop it out of the ground. If it's too deep then i use my stainless steel tube digger. I've dug thousands of coins using this probe and i love it!. Look up Pistol Probe on utube and see how these guys use theirs. Just dont copy the man-hole plug they dig as this is a no-no.
