Platipus coil and explorer 2
Hi to All
Just a line, I have invested in a Platipus coil to replace the stock one from my explorer 2.
I must say, I was impressed with the efficiency from Coiltek and the coil is a dream to use.
my findings sofar. it is much lighter than the stock one, which require a lill bit of readjustment in balance,
I found that the sound with the coil seems to be sharper ( but it could be suggestive), and more importantly, in trashy aera it is definitely a plus. can separate signal very nicely and goes much deeper.
I have gone over spots who have been trashed by other MD's and still found stuff, even in hole ready made !!!.

Re: Platipus coil and explorer 2
Hi Guru I have had a platypus coil on my explorer 2 for about a year and it still amazes me how well it performs. I also have the big 15 inch all terrain coil as well.I believe the platypus coil nearly matches it in performance as far as depth goes. I find it is easier to pin point than the standard 10 inch. It is also centrally mounted and this is better as the machine seems front heavy with the standard coil. It is my favourite coil without doubt,on the parks and general detecting. I still use the bigger coil on the beaches where the depth and bigger area scanned is an advantage. I would definately recommend the platypus coil for sure.

Re: Platipus coil and explorer 2
Has anyone got experience with both the Platypus and little joey coils? I just got an Explorer II and am wondering which one to get.
It will never go near water so the waterproofing is not an issue, I mainly work over high junk sites and need a smallish coil but not sure of the difference if any in these two products.
Any opinions?

Re: Platipus coil and explorer 2
The joey coil is slightly smaller and does not perform as well as the platypus. I would strongly recommend the patypus in preference. It is also better constructed being made in a solid mould form, and waterproof. The joey being hollow contruction which could be easily damaged. If you want another Platypus users comments send a pm David Co on this forum, he is more than happy with his and wouldnt be without it. seeya Neilo
