Cleaning relics with bicarb, water and foil!!!

Hello all.
Last night i decided to try something different to clean a few relics.
I used a mixture of warm water and a teaspoon of bicarb of soda in a dish, then laid a pice of aluminium foil on the bottom, immersed in the water. I place a few relics onto it, and a chemical reaction begins....after a few minutes the dirt I couldn't take off on prior cleaning, lifts!
Here are before and after photos of a coupld of relics. See what you think. I recommend trying this method with small relics such as buckles, badges and pins or silver coins that are tarnished.
