South coast trip

Just got back from a great weekend down at Batemans bay. Dugongstorey organised the trip and it bought a group of us from Caberra region togther to meet up and have paddle. The fishing was pretty quiet but thats no surprise the south coast tends to be slow during winter. The weather on Saturday was filthy, cold wet and windy. We put in on the Clyde river and dugong nailed a flatty on his first cast, that was it though and the rest of us couldn't loose a bait. The weather improved slighlty in the afternoon so we went for an offshore paddle to black rock, it was a good paddle but no fish to speak of. Water temp here was about 12 degrees so once again no surprise. Sunday was clear and sunny but could. Three of us were silly enough to get out of bed at dawn for an ocean paddle. Assorted rubbish again, no keepers. The sunrise on a spectacular day made it worth the pain of cold wet wetsuit. Thanks to all, I had a great time and it was good to meetup and have a couple of beers. Looking forward to doing it again soon. I will try to attatch some photos when I figure out how.

Hi Shads,

Nice quick report Shads, thanks ! The weather looks foul but there are still lots of smiles.

I fixed your pic links. You don't need to use the 'insert image' button (which adds extra un-needed image tags) along with the address Image Venue provides.

All this rigmarole with images will be a thing of the past as soon as I pull my finger out & get the new forum ready for use emoticon

Re: South coast trip

Good work with the post Shads!!!
Unfortunately because the film in my camera was so old not many of my photos came out that well. The only ones that were any good were the same group shots that you already posted.... not happy Jan emoticon
It was great to hook up with some other kayak fisherman regardless of the weather/fish count. A top bunch! Can't wait to do it again emoticon
The weather earlier on in the week was a lot better and Daniel and I were landing a lot more fish but unfontunately we totaled only 9 keepers (out of about 50 caught) in the five days previous emoticon (most were caught in a two day period). Highlights were the biggest rock cod I've ever seen (Daniel) and a large shovel nose (me). Almost everything else was little flathead, wrass or rock cod out wide and a heap of really tiny bream on live nippers in Tomaga River). Should be better when the water warms a bit.
Anyway, GREAT TRIP. Thanks to Shads again and hopefully we'll do it again soon.
