Ow, for god's sake Tony, don't bring the Kaskazi's into this... it's complicated enough as it is emoticon

I have paddled the Napali 3-4 times now & I still believe the report I posted some time ago here is pretty accurate. They are a nice ocean touring kayak, definately much better with a rudder but maybe not the best option for a fishing kayak due to the deck layout.

As far as I know Prowlers are not being moulded in N.Z. & both Aussie & N.Z. stocks are shipphed down from the U.S. Based on what I know from bringing-in the T160's I have on order I believe the RRP of the Prowlers being sold here now are lower than they should be. Maybe Canoe Sports are selling them to re-sellers at very low margins to get some market share or they are buying them from O.K. U.S.A. at lower prices to help get them into the Oz market (which is currently dominated by the Swing) or maybe there is some other reason but I'm not close enough to find out.

Either way, if the Prowler suits you & the price is low for whatever reason then that's good for you.

I have heard of some negative comments around about the Prowlers from their owners & others but I cannot prove them for myself & anyway I won't get into brand-bashing.

There may also be Swing owners with negative comments too... haven't heard of any though emoticon

I believe the Tarpon T160i will offer an alternative to the Prowler 15 for those looking for a fast, distance & open water capable fishing kayak and who, for whatever reason, don't like the Swing.

Re: Could get messy

Thanks for that, I think I will stay away from the Napali. Looking at pictures of the Prowler leave me thinking that I will just return to the Swing, it is a nicer looking machine in my opinion, and unless someone comes up with something super about the Prowler, Santa will be shoving a Swing down my Chimney!!!! emoticon

Re: Could get messy

You are talking about value for money. I test paddled a couple of yaks, unfortunately not the swing but have chosen the prowler 13 as it was a lot cheaper and i loved all of features. i put the last payment down in 2 weeks (horraayyyy). I have to say i agree with Bent1 in that i paddled in a reasonable westerly and struggled to gain a rhythm when going across the breeze cause i didn't have a rudder (or maybe because i am a gump). i found the yak seemed to turn down wind when going across the wind or across boat chop, which meant i had to do corrective strokes.

I found my prowler 13 for $1,350 including a rudder. which despite it beiong my favourite was also the cheapest. the place i have bought it is actually selling it cheaper then there wholesalers store - quite amusing

Re: Could get messy

I have a swing and haven't paddled much else in the SOT department.
Cons
- Its a wet ride, my bum gets wet even with the scupper plugs in, so I just leave them out.
- the ****pit seems a bit cramped.

Pros
- I don't reckon it needs a rudder, It tracks beautifully even in a cross wind.
Overall very happy, good all round yak emoticon
