South Coast NSW, Bream, Bass, EP Trip
I am wondering if there is anyone interested in doing an estaury or saltwater creek trip around the Merrimbula, Bega, Tarthra, Bermagui area when the weather warms up a little.

Re: South Coast NSW, Bream, Bass, EP Trip
G'day mate,
I'm in!!!
If you can give us a few weeks notice I reckon I can convince some others to join us as well.
I'm just about to head down the coast (staying at Malua Bay) for a week of solid yak fishing..... with perhaps the odd beer thrown in for good measure I'm hooking up with about 6 others over the corse of the week so will let them know you're plans.
Catch you round!

Re: South Coast NSW, Bream, Bass, EP Trip
sounds good, chasing the old bass in a yak or anything for that matter. i will keep a eye out and when its warmer will be certainly interested in trying my luck down the coast. I would have ventured down to Malua this weekend but had other things already on. but will try and get out on the weekend up here and annoy the bream

Re: South Coast NSW, Bream, Bass, EP Trip
Yes, there is nothing quite like chasing good ol' Bass from a kayak, I am a big fan of it. Stay tuned for some dates on this post in the near future once the weather warms up, and we will get this thing rolling. I am glad to have found some people interested in this style of fishing down this end of the woods. Since my departure from QLD, and the good company of the fellas from "South East QLD Kayak Fishing", I have struggled to find people who like to fish this way, and I do get some strange looks paddling around my local body of water (Lake Eucumbene) with ice hanging off my nose.

Re: South Coast NSW, Bream, Bass, EP Trip
James,
I will be in on it as well, but waiting a little while is probably a good idea. I was out at Shallow Crossing on the Clyde two weekends back and the water temp was around 4 degrees, and I had ice forming on the top of the yak on the paddle home. Surprised the hell out of me, that sort of weather belongs up your way!
Down around the 'corner country' on the NSW/Vic border is meant to have some really good bass water, and there is also a really good bass dam out near Bega.
If we get another good year on the midges out at Eucumbeme, the kayaks will come into their own there as well. Should be good fun.

Re: South Coast NSW, Bream, Bass, EP Trip
Yes mate, Brogo dam is the one near Bega, and I was a regular up until winter set in. The cold down there does not bother me, its just that if it snows up here, they close off Browns mountain so I cant get back home. I would have to drive all the way to Bega, then up to Canberra, then back across to Cooma, quite a drive!!! I have a couple of little "SECRET" places that Ive been put onto, that can really only be accessed by kayak or canoe which I am dying to try out in the very near future. I am thinking along the lines of mid - late September or for our little adventure, when the high pressures have a more consistant pattern. Even Brogo itself could be a fall back location, the fishing there is outstanding, and 20 or more fish in a day is not uncommen. I have a few "sneaky" spots there aswell that we all could try out. If we get a big group together, that would be a better option, as some of the little creeks would be difficult to fish with big numbers, although I am told that one of these creeks leads down to an estaury with some good oyster lease fishing. I would like to give everyone around 2-3 weeks notice, so we can sweet talk our wifes/girlfriends/bosses etc etc, and hopefully all be able to make the day out. So stay tuned to this same Bat channel, and hopefully all goes well.

Re: South Coast NSW, Bream, Bass, EP Trip
Hi Kelijad,
Sorry for the late reply. I have been out of town for a couple of weeks. Im based in Canberra and fish on the south coast frequently during the warmer months and I would be keen to join in south coast trip anytime. I have also caught(and released) some nice bass in the upper Clyde from my trusty old canadian. Im looking forward to hunting some bass from the swing.

More than welcome mate!!!! I look forward to meeting you all. Kayakers are a funny bunch dont you think? I didnt know that i would get this much response, We are all like this little secret society, paddling around ever so quietly, meeting each other through the kayaking grape vine- I LOVE IT!!! It makes me laugh how many of us are out there though,

Yes! agreed. The kayak is surely the antithesis of the jet ski. I think I'll get a T-shirt made up--- Kayakers do it quietly
