Re: Jacobs Well 30/07
G'day Gerard,
I'm not up for Jacob's Well tomorrow as I'd already decided on Wivenhoe (subject to "not sleeping in" which is the other alternative).
My reason for Wivenhoe is that it looks like being a "smooth waters" day which means I can travel several kilometers further on this big lake than I can when it's windy.
Plus I reckon there's a big Forky out there with my name on it !
Regards,
Ross

Re: Jacobs Well 30/07
No worries Ross. There has been a few 80cm+ flathead caught at various locations recently, people saying the warmer weather has brought them on early, so Im keen to try and get a PB from the kayak.
I wouldnt mind a couple of smaller ones for the plate either.
Good luck tomorrow, looks like another great day comming up!
--- Regards,
Gerard.

Yep, the weather is looking like we might get a good one tomorrow.
Good luck on that big Lizard, and make sure you get a decent photo of it to show us.
Regards,
Ross

Re: Jacobs Well 30/07
I hope you went OK tony. We stayed down the Gold Coast overnight so I wasnt around.
I only spent about about 3 hours at Jacobs Well again due to other commitments and only managed 2 flathead that were just under size.
If this weather continues Im hoping to get down to Kingscliffe next weekend.
How'd you go Stu?
--- Regards,
Gerard.

Re: Jacobs Well 30/07
Had a late start, hitting the water at Victoria Point at 9:30. There was just enough wind to ripple the surface. The water in the bay is exceptionally clear at present but I thought the slightly overcast conditions might help.
Paddled the southern edge of Coochie before heading across to Potts Point. By 11am the conditions were a total glass out. No sign of bait or birds, let alone fish. I had my only hit on a soft plastic but failed to hook up.
Paddled out to the first green channel marker towards Pelican Banks and there was a small pod of Dolphins working the area which wouldn't have encouraged any fish to advertise their presence.
Still, it was great conditions for paddling, and I got my first look at an area I'd been wanting to check out.
