Re: Port Phillip Bay 30/7 - 31/7
Rod there's not much happening aroud half moon bay at that spot i mentioned, all the action seems to be between black rock and rickets point. Pinkies 2kg and under most prolific around dusk naturally.
Do you want to launch around beaumaris life saving club again???

Re: Port Phillip Bay 30/7 - 31/7
hmmm forecast has changed a little 15-20 knots, waves 1/2 - 1 metre. It might be a bit cold in the slop with the wind for extra effect? I'll phone a friend who lives near by the Beaumaris to check out the conditions around midday and then deliberate the final verdict via sms.

Re: Port Phillip Bay 30/7 - 31/7
Hi Milt,
after much discussion Rod & I eventually headed out at about 2pm. The wind was well under 15 knots. In fact when we came in at 6pm it was quite calm.
There were plenety of couta & pike about before the pinkies finally made an appearance just before dusk. I had used up all my luck on the couta & pike and only picked up 2 pinkies. Rod did very well with the pinkies on the SP's.
With high tide near dusk next weekend I'm keen to head out again on the Sunday.
Regards
Grant

Re: Port Phillip Bay 30/7 - 31/7
I'm glad we went out Grant. Thanks for not piking like some others
It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.
The top 3 pinkies were 37, 35 & 33 cm with another hald dozen or so and 2 on fly.

Rod

Re: Port Phillip Bay 30/7 - 31/7
Well done fellas, great effort. Was it freezing out there? I managed to find some ex-hire wetsuits for which i have emailed for stock availability $22 each for a full length long john style! Any body else want one? I'm going to check them out during the week.
See you guys next time,
Milt

Re: Port Phillip Bay 30/7 - 31/7
$22 for a used wetsuit is a damn good price. Check to see if they have a zip in the back as this can dig into your back when you are seated.
If you buy one maybe take it to a wetsuit guy & get a fly zipper put in too
