Wivenhoe Saturday 20th August
I expect a few of the SEQ guys will be trying to catch big Jew at Kingscliff on Saturday, however, after reading bent's thread, I've decided (weather permitting) to give Wivenhoe a crack from Logan Inlet about 7.30am.
I seem to recall that someone was recently asking about Wivenhoe, so, if anybody is interested please feel free to join me.
Regards,
Ross

Re: Wivenhoe Saturday 20th August
Id love to be there with you Ross, but my trip to Qld has been cancelled, and it is a bit of a drive for a weekends trip. Will be back that way for good after xmas though, so we will organise that trip to Cressy that we were trying to do together. I do reccommend though, tournament pro-blue slider 3inch grubs worked slow through the schools, and you know my little favorites, the TN50 Jackalls in the AYU colour, or the MASK VIBS in the same colour. Good luck, enjoy the weekend, and I look forward to reading the report on the web site. (yes, I know I still havnt sent you guys a report, it is coming, Im just being lazy)

Re: Wivenhoe Saturday 20th August
G'day James,
Good to hear from you again and thanks for the lure tips.
I reckon I'll have the Big W to myself as all the other blokes will be flocking to Kingscliff after the photos Stu has been posting (if it wasn't for the early start, the cold bum on the SOT, and recent talk of big "bities" I'd probably be heading down there myself).
Yep, I've got to get to Cressbrook, and whether I make it there or not beforehand I'll be pleased to join you when you get up here in Summer.
Regards,
Ross

Re: Wivenhoe Saturday 20th August
As predicted there was only me and two leccies fishing but the wind came up strongly mid morning which meant I only spent two hours fishing.
Nonetheless I had some fun on the deep diving lures capturing 3 Forkies and one Yella on a Predatek B65UD in Green Tiger colour.
Regards,
Ross

Re: Wivenhoe Saturday 20th August
G'day James,
I was typing as you were posting.
Rain, what's that ? We need about a week of it to fill our fast depleting dams.
Weather's great but just a tad windy on the big lake this morning.
Regards,
Ross

Re: Wivenhoe Saturday 20th August
I sounded small numbers of large fish hanging off schools of bait fish in 40-60 ft of water today and had just started working them before the wind sent me packing (that's where the Yella and 2 of the Forkies came from before it got too choppy for me).
Interestingly, when I was there last Monday (took the Missus for a brief fish and a Barbie) we jigged SP's into "schooling fish" in Logan Inlet and only pulled out 4 Forkies.
Similarly, on the two July trips, when I jigged the dense schools I got only Forkies and the previous Bass came from a droppoff showing just an occasional solitary fish.
Regards,
Ross

mmmmmmmm.......strange, they must be in super plague proportions now days. I dont mind catching them though, any fish is better than no fish, and they fight ok too
