Re: Wivenhoe Saturday 20th August
I agree James.
Even though a lot of blokes turn up their noses at them, a big Forky can be a lot of fun to pull out of deep water on light gear.
As I mostly "catch and release" anyway I don't mind catching them (except when I get spiked).
If the weather isn't too "blowy" I might head up there again on Friday morning.
You wouldn't have any "ice jigs" in your "bag of toys" by any chance ... I can't source them from any of my local tackle shops ?
Regards,
Ross

Re: Wivenhoe Saturday 20th August
No mate, I dont have any, But when I worked at Mullet Gut Marine in Toowoomba we stocked them for the Bass. Give Pete, Carl or Ben a call on 07 4632 9770 and they will be able to send some to you.

Re: Wivenhoe Saturday 20th August
G'day Aaron,
As it turned out I drove out of the gate about 12.15pm so we must have just missed each other.
The weather was great all morning with a bit of a breeze starting as I left.
I left all the Bass and Yellas for you but I was kept pretty busy with Forkies during the morning and ended up with 9 in total.
If I trolled along the drop-offs I'd get a Forky, if I saw fish hanging off balls of baitfish I'd eventually troll up a Forky, and even if I saw single fish on their own about 20 feet down in deep water - same again - Forky.
I did briefly try a bit of jigging but had no luck with that so spent most of my time trolling.
There were a couple of big 'uns amongst them and at one stage I hooked two at once.
Hope you had some luck with the Bass.
Regards,
Ross
