Welcome to the Australian Kayak Fishing Forum, brought to you by 'Hooked On Kayaks'
Hi !
Welcome to the first forum dedicated wholly to kayak fishing in Australia.
It is a free site and I would like to hear your ideas & opinions and for you to share your knowledge.
As Owner/Administrator I'll try not to edit or delete posts even if they compete with my business. However please show some common sense and discretion. If in doubt please email me and ask.
Naturally, courtesy will need to be observed by all people who participate. I will not tolerate bad language, racisism, derogatory or inflammatory comments of any kind and I reserve the right to remove such comments from posts. Repeat offenders will have their posting priveleges revoked.
When you register, please take the time to create your signature (you can just use your username if you don't want to use your real name) & as part of your signature, tell us what kayak/s you have. It makes you posts feel a lot more 'personal' & lets everyone know what you paddle.
Please also include your location (just a general one, not your full street address) into your profile so we can all see where each other is from.
Who knows, you may find a fellow kayak fisherman lives close you can buddy-up with on fishing trips.
And if you really want to get keen... create yourself an avatar too. Instructions on how to do this are on the 'Forum Help' page.
Lets all have some fun & help promote this wonderful sport.

Re: Welcome to the Australian Kayak Fishing Forum, brought to you by 'Hooked On Kayaks'
Hi Phil
Congratulations on setting up this great site. I agree with you...it's time we had our own forum Down Under. Kayak fishing is increasing in popularity and it is sometimes hard to find specific info on Australian conditions, craft and fishing techniques.
So glad you have set it up.
Let the fun begin...
Simon

Re: Welcome to the Australian Kayak Fishing Forum, brought to you by 'Hooked On Kayaks'
G Day Phil, Simon and others. Good luck with the board, and well done. Yak fishing's probably a bit of an odd sport/recreation, but certainly gets in the blood and becomes an obsession quickly enough (did for me anyway, although I can see it's not everyones cup of tea). Happy to swing by and hook up on chat (hopefully offering many more cheesy puns).

Re: Welcome to the Australian Kayak Fishing Forum, brought to you by 'Hooked On Kayaks'
Hi Poddy,
Welcome Glad to see you made it here.
Kayak fishing has such a low profile in Australia I'm not expecting heaps of traffic but as long as a few brave souls (like us who have been seduced by 'the dark side') stop by occasionally I'm sure we'll all benefit & help promote the sport.
Don't forget to tell your friends

No worries Phil, I'll keep it on the favourites. Any instructions on posting pics?

Good question !
I can tell you how to post an avatar but I haven't tried to post any pics yet. I'll give it a whirl & let you know how I get on.

Re: Welcome to the Australian Kayak Fishing Forum, brought to you by 'Hooked On Kayaks'
Hi Poddy,
Righto, here's how to post a pic.
You need to have your pic in a location whereby you can specify a URL (ie a web address) for it. If you have a personal website just upload the pic to it. If not, sign-up on one of the free picture hosting sites on the web & upload it to that. Just remember the write down the URL link.
Now come to this forum & when in the 'post a new topic' page click on the 'Insert Image' button in the page centre. In this window type the full link address to the pic, then click OK.
As an example, if your pic want to show is called 'fish.jpg' & it is on your personal website at www.mywebsite.com.au in a directory called 'pictures' the URL would be http://www.mywebsite.com.au/pictures/fish.jpg
Hey Presto!
If you aren't sure it'll work do some testing in the 'Test' forum before posting for real.

Re: Welcome to the Australian Kayak Fishing Forum, brought to you by 'Hooked On Kayaks'
Hi Phil,
It looks like I have finally managed to register this time! Unfortunately I'm a bit of a "techno-fobe" but slowly I learn.
I hope that you gradually get more "yakkers" linking up to keep the forum interesting!
Well done, it should be worth the effort you have obviously gone to to get the forum together. I'm sure that it will help to promote this branch of the sport of angling and over time we will see more participating. Good luck with your business.
