Comp day 22/01/04.
1.5m N/E swell ,moderate shore break with a 5/8 knot S/S.E wind.Early high tide.Water temp 22deg,ambient temp 24 deg with moderate cloud cover all day.

Nine members competing with one guest (Dan AKA Catchemfish).

Most kayaks hit the water around 5.30am and paddled out to the inshore reefs. Snapper where the first species to start hitting the decks followed by mowies ,flathead and groper.

As always a couple of us started the day off with a troll around the headlands in pursuit of some Kings. The Kings proved elusive however I managed to troll up three good bonito.

Results:
1st Shannon (Son Of Pakeha)

2nd Geoff (Lion)Not bad for his first comp.

3rd Phil (Safari)

Largest Fish of the day:
Phil with his 53cm Bonito.

Two club records for the day:
Lindsay with his 52cm Mowie.

Phil with his Bonito.

A good day was had by all with some good quality fish coming up from the Mona Vale fishing grounds.A special thanks to Dan (Cathemfish) for making the effort to fish with us.

The shore break at Mona Vale proved a good source of entertainment claiming "The Lion" as he paddled in on Friday night(Pitch black) under the watchfull eye and advice of "Son of Pakeha".Go the tube Lion.

The next victim was "Nemo" who got cleaned up on Saturday. For a 67 year old you are a legend Ronnie, good on you mate.

Phil

Just wondering how I can organise a go on the Perception Swing and maybe have a fish with you guys before I make the big purchase of a new 'yak.

Not the best time of year at the moment so might have to wait till things warm up a bit but if things are fishing alright at the moment I'd be keen to have a go.

Let me know.

Caine

Just out of interest what did you pay for your Swing. Feel free to drop me an email with the details and where did you get it from? I've seen some deals around for a full fishing rigged Swing and am not yet sure whether I want to do all the work myself or not.

Thanks mate

Hi Guys,
Caine there is a kayak shop at Bayview (Windcraft)that is on the water .They sell Swings and encourage a test paddle.
