Line / Leader Size
What are good "all purpose" line and leader strengths for open water?

Re: Line / Leader Size
I use 30lb Platinum as a leader from my 14lb or 20lb Fireline. Roughly two rod lengths.
My 'heavy duty' troll outfit is a Wilson Live Fibre rod with a Shimano TSS4 reel loaded with 30lb Platinum line, so I don't use a leader.

Re: Line / Leader Size
Thanks Bill.
I was in Davo's yesterday and priced up all the gear. I currently have 14lb braid loaded and I've got some 25kg line at home so I'll start with that.
Assume you're not out there this morning!

Re: Line / Leader Size
Nic.
I use 30 Platinum because its small diameter matches well with the doubled braid.
I sometimes use 40lb SureCatch leader but only if I'm not intending to use the outfit for casting, as the larger knot 'snicks' and sometimes catches in the line runners.
