Re: Mulloway/Jew Fishing
G day Rod, I'm not too keen on the Yarra at night (too much traffic for a yak, would be OK landbased). Especially as I'm new to having a go for them, so I'm opting for the Patterson for a start. I'm not confident there about (have been told otherwise), but who knows? I'm also keen to have a go at the Barwon, and have a brother living near Wonbyn area who I'll have to pay a visit, so a bit of experimenting in a reasonably sheltered inlet is the go for a start. Do you know much about it?

Re: Mulloway/Jew Fishing
Gday Poddy
Are you planning to fish with livies? If not, I'd suggest putting in some time catching some live mullet/salmon at the river mouth. I have heard some reliable reports about jews in the patto in the last couple of months, all caught on live bait just upstream from the bridge. I have also heard of at least one bite off from a suspected bronze whaler. It sounds like you're spot on with moon phase and tide.
Best of luck.

Re: Mulloway/Jew Fishing
G day Jason, At this stage mate I'm giving a couple of big lures a go. I may graduate to livies a bit later on, I've read about row boats being "mooched" along in the Barwon using them. I've also read reports of Sp's providing a hook up.

Re: Mulloway/Jew Fishing
I hope you've got that heater working. Your braver than I am doing a night time run this time of year down there. You might get lucky and the temp might stay around a warm 3-4degrees .

Re: Mulloway/Jew Fishing
Had a crack last night, no joy except for snagging a coupla land based fisho's. I thought I might adopt a pyramid selling type approcah to my mulloway fishing, so hopefully they'll snag a coupla more fisho's and on and on....

Re: Mulloway/Jew Fishing
It was sit-in and thermal temp's, but not as cold as I thought it might be. Kind of cool paddling around with the moon overhead, although I did notice an excessive hair and fang growth
