deeper
Has anyone tried rigging up a downrigger from the yak or else other methods, eg paravanes for working the depths, i'm thinking about trying to run a paravane with a release clip as I don't have a sounder but fear it might be a bit hard to paddle with. Anyone tried this or got any other sugguestions.
cheers
pegron.

Re: deeper
Hi Pegron, mate i have a downrigger planned for my Prowler when it finally arrives (october, about time, i am sick of waiting). I tried the downrigger on my old S.I.K tourer but it made it track terribly due to it not having a rudder. i tend to dropshot SPs or deep jig spoons ect rather than troll lures if i want to get down deep at the moment. Hopefully the rudder on the prowler will make the difference and i will be able to downrig successfully.

Re: deeper
G Day pegron, I'm a bit slow on the uptake but use paravanes. A good one (I know you're into the metals) is a Fishseeker made by Davis, which gets down from 5 to 80 ft. It's smaller than some other brands (bluefin I think is the name) so isn't as noticeable when scooting along, and I'll use 2 of the buggers sometimes on a troll. They claim not to work with bibbed minnows, so may not work with bents trolled squid (haven't tried either). I'm happy to mail one accross if needed, give us a yell to sort it out.

Re: deeper
Thanks Poddy,
I'll see if I can find one down here, the only ones I've seen are quite large and I suspect would create a lot of drag. But having a brand to look for should help. I've tried a couple of other things without success but its been on the backburner for a little while.
Cheers
