Welcome to the forum Darren emoticon

It's good to have another kayak fishing business represented to offer help & advice on other brands of kayaks to forum members.

Thanks Phil.
I think it's great that even though many of us are in the business of selling fishing kayaks, we can get together to discuss and promote our sport. Good job!

Yeah, good one Darren, and welcome.
I've only fished Soft Plastics at night (dawn & dusk) with excellent results.
Darker colours seem to work best during low light.
I’m looking forward to your input

Re: Lure fishing at night

I flyfish, and at night I use clouser minnows that have luminous sparkle flash and a rattle built into them.

With heavy dumbell eyes, they would be easily cast on spin gear. I find the most effective around bridges, in the border of the illumination from the bridge lights.

Definitely go for something with a luminous section that you can charge with a torch or camera flash.

Good luck with it.

Re: Lure fishing at night

No worries, and thanks for the welcome.

The drought has hit us pretty hard up this way, but the fish are still there in places. I managed to get towed into a snag by something very large on one of the local lakes the other day, which was a first. Almost as much fun as actually catching the bugger.

I will be back for round 2 this weekend. emoticon

Thanks for that.
I'm keeping an eye out for some luminous lures. I figured early on that noisy and reflective lures would be the go, especially when there's a bit of moonlight or street lighting. I suppose dawn and dusk are the best times, but I just love getting out after dark....it can be so peaceful and relaxing. I use my Hobie Mirage Outback at night, and because you're pedaling it, you stay bone dry, which is a huge advantage on those chilly evenings. Also having the hands free means the refreshments are always flowing. emoticon
