Which Marine Adhesive?
I’m trying to get my transducer fixed to my hull but have not had any luck with the adhesive.
I’ve used Sika Marine Products Sikaflex®-291 for foam housing and PVC housing but it comes away from the hull very easily.
I know from the US sites they use Marine Goop.
Can we get Goop here or what are our alternatives?

Re: Which Marine Adhesive?
Thanks Billy. I was wondering if Lexel was available down here. I have always used 24hr Araldite but would like to try Lexel.

Re: Which Marine Adhesive?
Rod: Make sure you rough sand the surface then give it a good wipe over with methylated spirits before you apply the Lexel.
It takes 24 hours to 'soft' cure and 72 hours to 'set' properly.

Re: Which Marine Adhesive?
Excellent advice Billybob.
I attached the PVC 3 weeks ago.
The kayak has been on a 9 hour trip each way to NSW upside down on my roof and I've used it several times with continued adhesion.
Good stuff that Lexel

Re: Which Marine Adhesive?
Hey guys,
I'm about to fix my transducer to my hull and I wanted to revisit this thread to get some more comments on using Lexel to attach the transducer to the hull.
How are the guys who used Lexel going with their transducer mounts these days??
I have two tubes, Selleys Araldite, or the Lexel adhesive, which do you guys think would be best??
I'm wanting something that will give a firm bond and wont have to be reattached later on, or fall off etc etc.....
Anyone else have any comments?
Look forward to hearing some feedback.

Re: Which Marine Adhesive?
Hey Dallas,
I vote for the Lexel.
It's still going strong and I haven't been that gentle with the kayak.
The marine adhesive I used only lasted a couple of trips.
Just make sure you sand the areas being joined and it should be great.
Let us know how you go

Re: Which Marine Adhesive?
Hey Rod
Just one Q, just to make sure I am on the same page.
You used the Lexel to bond both the PVC ring AND the transducer to the hull??
I'm placing my transucer in a protected area in the middle of my Tarpon 120 (just under the seat, and forward a little), under the seat, so I was thinking of foregoing the PVC ring, I can't see anything rolling around inside my kayak and knocking it loose.
I'll go get the digital camera and see if I can put a picture on here.....back soon :P
