removable sounder

Hi guys, i was wanting to use my existing sounder out of my powerboat on the yak. Not being able to source a second tranduser i though i would try attaching it to the rudder on the prowler to see how it would affect the tracking while gliding as well as the steering.

i am pleased to say that on the prowler i can not notice any difference in handling when the transducer is attached to the rudder. I would imagine that lots of people have tried this before but just wanted to report my success in case any other newbie wanted a non permanent sounder installation.

catch ya bent

Re: removable sounder

Hi Bent1

I have same problem trying to fit a Lowrance X67c that I normally use in my Hornet. I have sourced an extra transducer that I will be fitting permanently to the inside of my Prowler. Watch out for local pricing. My local Lowrance dealer wanted $219 for the transducer. I found one (new) hanging on the wall of another boat dealer for $99!!!

Cheers

Re: removable sounder

In further news. I also needed a gimball bracket for the sounder - dealer quoted $30. I asked Lowrance what the RRP was - they said $19. I asked them what could I do? They said I could order it direct from them - they would charge $19 plus $15 for postage!!!! They didn't seem at all concerned by the fact that one of their dealers was charging way above the RRP - I am not impressed.
