Swing double set up for fishing
Hi all,I have a Swing double nearly set up to my likeing but the front flush mounted rod holder is a pain when trolling so any ideas on how to remedy this? I sit fwd due to the g/f sitting in back and she prefers to follow my lead when paddling her excuse anyway. The next plan is a fish finder fitted to find the elusive big one. Also looking for someone to fish with around wollongong area.

Re: Swing double set up for fishing
Hi Sam60,
Welcome to the forum
Any chance you could post a pic showing the front flushmount so we can offer ideas?
I normally just fit an adjustable to the front ****pit of the Swing Doubles I fit-out. If you go to my business's website, take a look at page 1 of the Photo Gallery & you'll see a pic of a red Swing Double.
By the way, so we can help get to know you better would you please include your location (just a general one, not your full street address) into your profile so we can all see where you are from whenever you make a post. Instructions on how to do this are in the 'help' area.

Re: Swing double set up for fishing
Tried to attach pic but would not play the game. i will send Phil a pic and he might be able to offer ideas or even post it....
would a adjustable rod holder that swivels be any good? the rod holder at present is in front of the drink holder in the front position.maybe a visit to the dawn prawners ?? on a fishing trip might help. at least it gives me an excuse to go fishing

Re: Swing double set up for fishing
Hi Sam,
I have added one of the pics you e-mailed to me to your post.
That flushmount is right up the front & would be an especially long reach judging by the position of the footrests.
As shown on the pic in my photo gallery I mount a Berkley adjustable on the spine in between the footwells just ahead of the water bottle recess, which is a much more user friendly.
If you'd like, PM Greg a.k.a. 'Synchro Angler' (the owner of the red synchro in my photo gallery) and ask him what he thinks of that rod holder & location.
For most fishing applications the Berkley works well but if you are targetting monster fish and concerned about strength then maybe consider useing a Scotty.
Either way you have plenty of access inside the hull through the front hatch so use stainless steel nuts, bolts & washers and fit a stiffening plate inside the hull. This will give the mount plenty of support.

Re: Swing double set up for fishing
Thanks Phil "The Mariner" for posting the pic.I might have to chase up about a swivel mounted holder as info i have gleaned so far indicates that this will alleviate the problem of the fishing line tracking beside/under the yak when trolling with 2 on board.
