How to add pictures into your posts

Hi Everyone,

Adding pictures isn't difficult but it does need some explanation of the steps required.

You need to have your pic in a location whereby you can specify a URL (ie a web address) for it. If you have a personal website just upload the picture to it and remember the URL.

If you don't have any personal web space you can upload your picture to one of the free picture hosting sites on the web. Yahoo has such a facility but we just don't seem to be able to get it to work.

I suggest using ImageVenue. It's free, doesn't require you to sign-up & seems to work most of the time. You just upload your picture then it generates the link code for you. You'll need to copy one of the 2 'Hotlink a clickable thumbnail...' links (as shown below) that ImageVenue provides into your message.

If you have uploaded the picture to your own web space then come to this forum & when in the 'post a new topic' page click on the 'Insert Image' button in the page centre. In this window type the full link address to the pic, then click OK.

As an example, if your pic want to show is called 'fish.jpg' & it is on your personal website at www.mywebsite.com.au in a directory called 'pictures' the URL you would type in after the http:// would be www.mywebsite.com.au/pictures/fish.jpg

If you have uploded it to ImageVenue you don't need to go through the 'Insert Image' stufff...just paste the link into your message.

If you aren't sure it'll work do some testing in the 'Test' forum before posting for real.

I hope this helps emoticon
