Re: Drawn to Batman
I never managed to see all of the episodes, since I was taking care of babies at the time, and because of my busy schedule. But I watch the show when I can. I did see the episode with Carrie Kelley from 1998, and LOVED IT!!

Re: Drawn to Batman
Okay, I am IN LOVE with the animated series and now own the four sets. I still have to get the individual movies. I can see how this would be the definitive Batman to people. I especially like all of the little details like the street lights washing over the characters as they drive down the street, Gordon pushing his glasses up on his nose, etc. The episodes really are like mini-movies. I can't believe that I missed all of that before but it's okay because it's all fresh to me. So far I've only seen the first season and disc 1 of the second season. I'm looking forward to watching the rest and I'm going to be bummed when I'm done! Next to the 60s TV series this is my absolute favorite Batman stuff (including the movies).

Re: Drawn to Batman
Its great to hear your enjoyment of these. I still pop them on and watch them. The movies are just as good too, a couple are more serious, while a couple are just fun stories. Mask of the Phantasm and SubZero are my 2 faves. Worlds Finest and Mystery of the Batwoman are just fun to watch.

Re: Drawn to Batman
Both Mask of the Phantasm and SubZero are beautiful pieces if ART!
Alot of people don't notice that they added some computer animation to the traditional 2D animation because it's so seemless but if you pay attention it's just great! The stories are great too.
It's kinda neat to hear the reaction of somebody who's NEVER seen the Animated Series. In my opinon it's the best thing they ever did!!

Re: Drawn to Batman
I'm finishing up Season 2 and starting Season 3 tonight. A couple days ago I took some stuff to trade in a FYE and I got:
The Batman & Superman movie
Secrets of the Caped Crusader
Mask of the Phantasm
Mystery of the Batwoman
The Batman-The Complete Second Season
That's all that they had. A couple days ago I got Batman vs Dracula
So far the BMvsD is the only thing I've watched of the The Batman series. I don't like the rendition of The Joker in that series. I still need to get Season 1 of that series.
I don't have anything (noe have I seen anything) of Batman Beyond, yet.
One side note... Since Bruce Wayne is so rich why the heck couldn't he afford a color TV on TAS?

Re: Drawn to Batman
I think everyone gave up on this thread!!!! I'm on Season 3 Disc 4 and am already dreading that there is only one more set! It amazes me that I missed this whole era. I wish I could go back and getthe action figures.
Side note: one thing that I don't like is that they made Catwoman a blonde! I liked her better with black hair (as she was usually portrayed) because it made her darker and less Barbie.

Re: Drawn to Batman
the black and white screens were part of the lure for me, as was the clothing styles and cars. It realy gives the series a timeless feel to it. Especially with the blimps in the air. Love that.
If you look on ebay you can get almosy all the basic animated figs either loose or MOC fairly cheap.

Re: Drawn to Batman
Thanx, I'll be on the hunt. I watched disc 1 of volume 4 last night and it's amazing how different it is from the previous volumes. I actually like that version of Batman (character design) better but they kinda screwed up the villains. Joker and Scarecrow suck on that version! Catwoman and Poison Ivy aren't all that great, either (though the version of Selena Kyle is better).
I'm not sure which version of Batgirl I like better. She seems too young and small but it works okay.
I used to be a stickler about the yellow behind the bat on the chest emblem but the bat alone makes more sense and I'm glad the belt is toned down a little. I like the newer Robin design better. I'm not sure why so much green was used since there's nothing green on a robin. Plus, I'm glad they had the sense to give Robin boots and colored leggings rather than the fish-scale panties, bare-leg look and Peter Pan/elf booties. That style was always a little creepy to me.
I did pick up Subzero today so I've still got stash to look forward to. Once I get done I'll probably have withdrawls!!!

Re: Drawn to Batman
Wow Jeff,
Sounds like you've seriously been glued to the TV, LOL! It's great hearing about somebody seeing TAS for the 1st time, it's a great show. You're gonna love those other shows as well. Mask of the Phantasm is just a nice movie to watch & pretty well done. Mystery of the Batwoman isn't as good but still pretty nice. They seemed to go a little low budget on that one, in my opinion.
The only thing I haven't seen is THE BATMAN VS DRACULA which I plan to get later. Also, I will probably get THE BATMAN Season 1 so I can start to catch-up on that show.
Oh yeah, this thread ain't dying so QUITYERBELLYACHIN'! hee hee.
