new batsuit to be used in DK
I guess one small problem I had with the movie (other than Katie Holmes who I guess was the only big problem I had with it) was the batsuit. It's just tough to get that suit to where it looks really flexible and not "clunky" or bulky. Well, supposedly they are testing a new suit out for the the dark knight, (VERY mild spoiler alert) which batman is somehow forced to use because of a problem that arises. "its a major plotpoint as to the how and why this happens."
Nothing on the look of the Joker yet, I'm really looking forward to seeing how they are going to pull off the look of the clown prince.

Re: new batsuit to be used in DK
This new batsuit they're talking about is said to use "flexi-suit" material (somewhere along the lines of what we've seen in the Spider-Man movies, Fantastic Four, and Superman Returns) but will NOT be completely rubber free.
Take that however you like.

Re: new batsuit to be used in DK
Im curious to see what the new suit will look like. I wasnt overly thrilled with the Begins outfit, Im hoping for a cowl with longer ears.

Re: new batsuit to be used in DK
I dont like it. Aside from the cowl being seperate and moveable, I hate everything about this new "gimmick" suit. Ive been debating my point of view on other boards for the last couple days. My latest is because I had made the comment that this has lost any intimidation factor that the batsuit is supposed to have. I was told, "when did any of the suits have an intimidation factor?". That was just a stupid response, imo, but here was my reply:
The 89 suit was intimidating. It looked raw and monsterous, it gave the feel of a giant bat.
The Returns suit had more of an aggressive feel to it, imo. It looked like it was gonna kick your ass. Sharp and precise.
Panther suit was more of the superhero suit. Classic comic book hero type outfit.
Clooneys suit was not meant to be really intimidating because that wasnt really the Batman characterization they were going for. It was meant to convey a more accessible character but still maintained the bat and hero aspects of the previous suits.
The Sonar and Ice suits dont count, they were just gimmick suits for the finale of the respective films.
The Begins suit was a more of a, sigh, realistic, urban approach to the costume. It still had a level of intimidation to it in the design of the cowl and guantlets and also with the huge bellowing cape.
This new suit, which for the moment I am also grouping with the other gimmick suits, has none of the above mentioned qualities for me. I have shown the pic to other people, who are just "general public" and every one of them said "whatd they do to his suit?". "Why do they change his costume in every movie?".
Its our right as fans of th character to critisize the aspects of the movies, especially when it comes to something as important as the costume. I do not have to accept it. I do not have to learn to like it. Yes, people are going to disagree and like different things, not everyone will be on the same page when it comes to individual taste, but make your own decision. Dont just follow the current in crowd and just accept something that gets thrown at you. The suit is changing because its WB and its Hollywood. Plain and simple. Nolan can write any reason he wants for it in the movie, but when it comes down to it, there really isnt a need for it. Except for marketing.
My main problem with this gimmick suit is it just doesnt feel like Batman. There is no fear factor or superhero factor in this at all. Its sporty bat. Kinght armor bat. Its Tron Bat. Its an action figure.
Plus, I never said I wasnt going to not see TDK, everything Ive seen up to now I thought was good. Im just very, very disapointed with this suit, and Im going to continue to express my dislike for it. It also seems as more poeple are giving it the critical eye. Ive been checking a couple online polls and its about 60/40 as of today. Not exactly a slam dunk.

Re: new batsuit to be used in DK
I kind of agree with you about NOT liking this suit but at least it's not really really really bad, it's just ok. Why do they keep doing the black outfit??
I seriously wish they would go with the classic blue/gray costume with the yellow chest logo & belt...like the older retro comic book version, think "Neal Adams". That would be very cool & the toys would be great!

Re: new batsuit to be used in DK
I think the general opinion of this suit is either--"it's ok, or it sucks." I really like it--I guess I'm in the minority. It's flexible, its sleek and quick looking, and they will make him look "hulking" when need be. In future movie batman series, I would like to see them try the grey and black outfit, but this look is perfect for the current series. Remember, it's all about realism with Nolan--at least as much as is possible. If something like this were to really happen, what would this guy wear? Something like this I'm betting.
