Re: Everyone's General Thoughts
I'm in a similar boat in that I grew up with the '89 movie and liked it then, but now I just see it as a huge disappointment. But, all bat fans are certainly entitled to their own opinions on the character, and I hope you like the next one better T.J.

Re: Everyone's General Thoughts
Thats the thing all Batfans need to understand. Not everyone is going to like each of the movies. Everyone has different tastes on which interpretation they like for Batman. For me, it was the Burton films. The Schumacher films were too "comic" for me. Too remnicient (sp?) of the old 50's version of Batman. Which for comic books is okay for me, but not what I want for the big screen. Nolan was too realistic, I found it to be a bit boring and over explained in parts. I do rank Begins 3rd on my list as I can actually watch it straight thru, unlike the Schumacher films.
As I said, Im keeping my fingers crossed for TDK. This time around tho, Im staying away from any major spoilers and I hope there isnt a script leak like last time. If there is, I sure dont want to read it. I think thats also part of the reason I didnt enjoy Begins as much, I already knew the movie.

Re: Everyone's General Thoughts
Here's hoping MOST are blown away by TDK. I trust in Nolan, and those who doubt Ledger, i KNOW, will at least think better of him before the film is through.
This movie is going to be fantabulous. I can feel it in my jibletts.

Re: Everyone's General Thoughts
Although I had some quibbles with BB, overall I thought it was the best Batman movie thus far and the most faithful to the comics. I have to believe that Nolan will do well once again. And I think Bale is the strongest actor to play Batman yet.
As far as changing the costume goes, I hope they do not go with the all-black look again. Half the time, Batman gets completely lost in the dark alleys and dimly lit interiors. I'd much prefer a black cape, cowl, shorts, and boots, with the main body of the suit in gray. That would provide some contrast and, if he wants to be hidden, he can just wrap the cape around him.
With regard to Maggie Gyllenhaal, while I believe she's a much better actress than Katie Holmes, I don't think she's glamorous enough to be a love interest for Bruce Wayne. In the comics, Bruce Wayne has always been an extremely handsome man with gorgeous women around him, sorta like James Bond. Gyllenhaal doesn't fit that mold, in my mind.
I just hope there's more real detective work going on in the new one. Somewhere along the way, they forgot that Batman is a detective at heart, and some of his best stories involved clever forensic and crime solving work. Give us a real mystery this time!

Re: Everyone's General Thoughts
Well said.
Some depth to the plot would be very welcome.
