The Death Of Batman (seriously!!!)

Better break out your black arm bands guys

Apparently DC Comics are planning to kill off Bruce next summer and leave one of the Robins to inherit the mantle of the bat from him. Here's a link to the story below.

http://www.comicbookresources.com/columns/?column=13

I'm sure this is just a stunt to coincide with TDK getting released next summer, the kind of media attention it will bring to the comic books couldn't hurt with the movie being out and it might even get non fans to pick up the book like with the death of Superman ten years ago and the more recent death of Captain America over at Marvel.

Nobody really dies in the comics so I'm assuming this won't be a permanent arrangement, but it will be a very interesting storyline and one I look forward to following quite closely.

The Doctor: People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect... but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly.... timey-wimey.... stuff.

This is really sad news. Ya Know, in the 1980's when Bane broke Batman's back & they had all those "other Batmans" ( Azrael, etc...) ? That's the exact moment I stopped collecting comic books. But, I got the bug later & started my collection again.

Thanks for posting the news story.

I am interested to see where they go with this. I picked up my first Batman comic just a couple of weeks ago. I noticed it had a countdown number on it. Is this the countdown to his death? The issue was the issue where Ras comes back and again and looks kinda like a mummy. Excuse my ignorance, I have been a batman fan for quite some time but not as much into the comics. Thanks for any info you can give me.

Last time I checked it was from an old rumor mill. There was talk of Bruce passing and becoming a new god. But that never left the " idea " table.

Considering he is one of the big 3 if not the biggest over at camp DC it would be a rough blow. But if you follow the time line according to the link in OP's post and the current activities with the latest issues with the replacement Batman's showing up .... It might just still happen. Interested to see how it plays out.

It's gotten to the point where the comics are just ridiculous and insignificant, sadly to say. They employ idiots who have no love or respect for the characters. The live-action and animated stuff is where it's at these days. But, hey, for me...the best already existed in 66-68 and if that's all there was I'd still be a Batfan!

The R.I.P. storyline has been riveting reading. The writers are doing an amazing job. The varying Batman issues have been around for a LONG time and it's a huge job keeping it fresh, gritty and exciting. I"m loving it.
