Digital Scans?

So what is everyones stand point on them.

They do affect the industry as any form of piracy would. However I like having them to preserve my paper's in the best condition I can have them.

Does anyone else go by this policy or think they should be abolished all together?

I'm kind of confused, ha ha.
What is this topic about?

Sorry, I just don't understand the issue.

Oh lol. Well like everything else in the world , the internet has allowed a giant gate way for piracy , along with movie's , music and video games , comic books are available for download as well . People render high quality scans of the current issues and put then in CBR format * comic book reader * ( yes there is even a special program needed to read them in )

I was just asking what people's view on them were and how I found a small appreciation in them being there to preserve my paper's. The less wear and tear on them the happier I am with them.

I have scans of the first couple of hundred Batman/Detective comics.
I would never be able to afford a complete collection and even if I could I would still have to use scans to 'check' my copies against or to read instead of unbagging the rarest ones.

I dont sell or trade my scans and so I dont think there is anything wrong with having them.
As for the latest issues It would still cost a fortune to buy every single Batman title every month so while it is immoral I think it is also unstoppable.

There is though the artists and writers wages to consider.
If hardly anybody buys the comics then the price per issue would have to be higher or the artists wages would be so low that none of the good ones would do it anymore.

Perhaps DC should set up a pay-per-view site where you can read any comic you like for 10cents.

Yeah , that's how I feel. I've hunted down a lot of back issues just for the sake of reading the story in scan format. There is no way in hell I would ever be able to afford all of them. They will never have an collector value , there just good to have to say , " Yeah I've read that "

I prefer to be able to see the art and colours of the newer stories in hard copy though,

With some of the older comics I am glad I didnt pay $4500 for some of the **** that was turned out.

Yeah, ok. I understand now. Sorry...I'm a moron sometimes, ha ha.

I like the idea of being able to read golden age or silver age stuff but I don't like the idea of "stealing the stuff" & in a weird way it's like stealing. But I guess I respect comic book artists too much because I have NO problem stealing music, ha ha! You didn't hear me say that.

Personally I don't have ANY of these scans you're talking about. I know they exist but I'm kinda paranoid about getting them. I guess it would be pretty cool to start from Batman #1 & read all the way thru to #500.

I remember a few years ago WB sold a CD that contained every single issue of Mad Magazine. It sold in main-stream stores like BestBuy& Target. Anyway, they should do that with the Batman comics, that would be very cool.

I absolutely hate reading comics off of a screen. I don't do the webcomic thing for this reason. In my opinion, nothing will ever beat actually holding a comic in your hand.

As for not being able to afford the older stuff, that's what the DC Archive volumes are for. emoticon

I don’t like them for the most part—I’m a collector at heart. I suppose there are a few titles that I’m not buying now but would read if sent a free pdf. emoticon

I download all my comics now unless a cool omnibus/collection picks my interest. There are great programs that make reading them easy. I turn my laptop computer on its side and flip through the pages just like a comic book. It might classify as 'stealing' but my wife would NEVER let me keep up with all the Batman titles. My kids have 'gotta' eat...
