Easter in the Byzantine Rite
The entire octave of Easter in the Byzantine Rite is called Bright Week-there is no Friday abstinence as is usually practiced as this is a festive week.
Many changes occurr in the Divine Liturgy: instead of the Trisagion, the hymn "as many as have been baptized in Christ have put on Christ" replaces it-this refers to the catechumens baptized on Holy Saturday, as in the Latin Church.
"Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death. And upon those in the tombs bestowing life!"
This hymn is sung repeatedly in the Divine Liturgy throughout the Easter Season.
Troparion of Matins
When Thou didst descend to death, O life immortal, Thou didst slay hell with the splendor of Thy Godhead. And when from the depths Thou didst raise the dead, all the powers of heaven cried out: O giver of life, Christ our God, glory to Thee!

Re: Easter in the Byzantine Rite
Onuphrius,
I just want to thank you for maintaining this Eastern Catholic forum. I am learning a lot about my fellow Catholics of the Eastern rites.

Re: Easter in the Byzantine Rite
Well, you're welcome, Andy. I'm glad that I can help folks understand the Eastern Churches a little better.
Hypakoe of Pascha
Before the dawn, Mary and the women came and found the stone rolled away from the tomb. They heard the angelic voice: "Why do you seek among the dead as a man the one who is everlasting light? Behold the clothes in the grave. Go and proclaim to the world: The Lord is risen. He has slain death, as He is the Son of God, saving the race of men."
Paschal Dismissal (used throughout the Easter Season)
May Christ our True God, who is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs bestowing life, through the prayers of His Most Pure Mother, and of all the saints, have mercy on us and save us, for He is merciful and the Lover of Mankind.
