Our Guidlines

This was posted at the 'old' board.

We,at Catholic Pillar and Foundation ,welcome people of all faiths. We hope that you'll feel right at home here. The door is open-all we ask is that you follow a few simple guidlines.Call them rules if you like-we believe if we all follow this guide it will make our board a good place to come to.The title(in case anyone wondered)Catholic Pillar and Foundation is taken from the Bible-"the church is the pillar and foundation of truth."
So that must be what one of our goals of the board is-to find truth. We will do this respectfully and here's how:

1. Query and discuss in the General Discussion area. If you're in the mood to debate then there's the new "In Defense of His Bride" forum.Do NOT debate in the General Discussion forum!

2. Watch your terms. What you may not think is offensive-could be. Avoid words such as romish(and its associated words.you know what they are),bible thumpers, "you people"(which is just plain ignorant)and judgements-ie "you are going to hell" or "you people are going to hell". (killing 2 birds with one stone).

3. Don't use ad hominem attacks. They're not very convincing anyway.

4. Keep in mind that this IS a Catholic board. Do not attempt to prosteylize-if we didn't desire to be Catholic we would not be here. If you are a dissenting Catholic keep in mind this board is not for someone's personal agenda-while we respect our brethern in the faith the Church is NOT a democracy. We're here to defend those beliefs we hold dear, not promote an agenda. There are probably boards that do that-we're not one of them.

5.We will do our best to answer queries and to explain our beliefs...we will go out of our way to be sure that you feel satisfied with an answer. What we know we will pass on to you but we hope to encourage people to research on their own as well-we will try to point you in the best possible direction for that. You may still disagree when you're done-but we're going to make an effort to be sure you understand what you disagree with first.

6. We want to have lively discussions. We also realize that sometimes debate about beliefs can get pretty heated--people can be passionate about their beliefs(we hope they are!!).We don't ask anyone to sacrifice principle-we just ask that they are as kind as they are honest in the presentation.

7. The BIG question. Will we ban? This is a very last resort and something we never want to have to do.So this is how it will go. We will give people the benefit of the doubt and warn the first time-if the offender persists we will then warn they could be. Finally, knowing that a ban is imminent, and they persist anyway we will have to conclude that they really don't want to be part of our board anyway and accomodate those wishes.

Offensive means offensive to us or to anyone. If we find a Catholic or non Catholic chooses to take down our board by resorting to nasty behavior we won't show any preference. It's basically 3 strikes = out.

Think of this as YOUR board-it will be what you make it to be.

Our adminstrators and moderators devote as much time as they possibly can to the board. If anyone is interested we could always use a few more moderators and hosts.

IF you have a complaint-don't be afraid to tell us.

IF you have any suggestions-don't be shy. We're open to new ideas.

So, get comfy, grab your coffee (or soft drink), prop your feet up and begin a discussion, ask a question or just share your thoughts.
God Bless!

"You know well enough that Our Lord does not look so much at the greatness of our actions, nor even at their difficulty, but at the love at which we do them."

St. Therese,
help me to always believe,
As you did,
In God's great love for me,
So that I might imitate your
"Little Way" each day.
