They come in a great many sizes and shapes.

Well, if you are determined to negative any alternative to harming the bird I suppose there's nothing we can do to stop you but please spare us the unpleasant details. You and Chrissy can gloat over you plans without forcing it down our throats. emoticon

Not fair Rocky. In fact, Very unfair. What efforts have I had to go to first of all to have the pond. Why is there a waterfall? What tricky red tape have I had to negotiate to build an outdoor environment for the Momma ducks, squirrels, racoons, possums, iguanas and occasional otter family of three that leaves the lake to visit my little pond. You sadden me today Rocky. You see, that's the mentality that I was talking about that makes you elevate animals and denigrate humans. You sadden me today Rocky.

You really didn't know that raccoons, possums, and otters were carnivors? You didn't know that they all eat fish? Talk about unfair, I think your blaming the heron for all your fish loss is completely unfair given this new information.

Like it or not we are all animals. It's impossible to elevate and denigrate at the same time

I'm glad to know I saddened you - I was beginning to think nothing could put a dent (however small) in the hardness of Pharoah's heart.

Do me one favor. If you feel compelled to post about the inferiority of the "lower" animals, please put a warning in the title so I know to skip it.

Rocky:

Sufficient efforts have put into place a mini-environment that is constantly monitored. I think you know that great care has gone into this work. The kind of care that only the human animal can do for other animals; and the kind of care that no other animal can do for the Human Animal. Your view is wrong and there is no satisfying you because you will that you will not recognize the good. As Mr. Spock said, "The good of the many, outweighs the good of the one."

I am truly hurt by your insistence that my black heart is to blame for anything. Nor will I add a caution about a topic. I have no option given your position on this matter but to retire from this board. Your statements truly offend and were intended to offend. Without any hard feelings Rocky, I bid you and the board farewell.

Sorry to see you go. This is why I hate running a board. Once before I almost turn ownership over to Bob. This time I will do so as soon as I finish this. As a plain old poster I can voice my opinion without walking on eggshells. This will be his board from now on so you don't really have to leave.

> > Hey IA, before you go, Have you tried "bottle" rockets? You can aim them in a general direction and create a loud whistle and a minor pop, and they MOVE. Herr Heron will not know from whence they eminate. Since I'm sure that would turn that most useless of all confederations (A Homeowner's Ass.) into convultions, you might consider a low power pet type fence charger and a ring of low wire around the pool. This would deliver a minor shock to bird and beast alike. You can place your wire on plastic stakes and move it about to add to the carnivore confusion. Or perhaps add a twenty foot python to the pool for a while. But don't tell Chit. emoticon Hurry back, Marv

CRIKEY.

IA, you are entitled to your harsh opinion regarding hurting/ maiming or killing an innocent animal, but to rub this garbage in Chit's face, knowing full well how offensive she finds it, is rude. So apologize. That's all it takes. To leave the board like a stubborn 3 year old because someone does not agree with you is plain ridiculous.

Chit, at no time were you offensive to IA. Rather, you pointed out the facts of nature, FWA policy towards habitat and species, and helpful hints on eliminating his perceived problem with the heron. Thank you for your patience. I did not have such control and stayed out of this thread because I knew my mouth would start flapping and I'm not here to be spoken to like a child by someone who really only wishes to antagonize.

I'm sorry you resigned your ownership over this matter. Doggone it all, this is what CD wants to avoid at all costs.

You said it best when you offered to agree to disagree. We should not be afraid to voice our opinions. We also should respect the other's voice. Unfortunately this thread deteriorated into a bully thread. I'm sorry for that.

I want this beautiful heron to live to see another day without injury or death. That is HIS RIGHT.

And I hope IA does not have a pupper that accidentally gets into a neighbor's yard and destroys their garden. What will IA do when the pupper comes home with bb's in his behind? Accept his neighbor's actions with empathy?
