Robert "Babe" Kirkland
September 14, 1939 - February 25, 2009
Mr. Robert "Babe" Kirkland, age 69, of McKinney, Texas passed away on February 25, 2009. He was born on September 14, 1939, in McKinney to Lee and Clara Belle (Shirbine) Kirkland. Mr. Kirkland was a carpenter and of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Newby of McKinney; children, Albert Kirkland, Doris Simmons, Robert Kirkland, Jr., Rhonda Holt, Stacy Newby and Mike Newby; stepmother, Louise Kirkland; grandchildren, Sarah Blanton, Andre Blanton, Joshua Fisher, Chelsea Simmons, Lauren Brooke Kirkland, Robert Kirkland III, April and Johnathan Holt, Rocky and Keegan Kelly, Thomas, Joseph, Melaina and Breanna Newby; great grandchild, Kaylen McBroom; brothers, James, Paul and Harvey; sister, Patricia Rose; and many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia Trevino Kirkland; brother, Benny; stepbrother, Virgil; and stepson, Richard Newby. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Wilson Chapel Cemetery in McKinney, Texas. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Directors.
