Chit, your Thanksgiving images... Do they need to be so large?
The actual pic is 400(width) by 300(height) which you can see by left clicking it and choosing "Properties". Actually your AOL browser probably prevents you from knowing such useful information.
But anyway, 400 by 300. When you force it to be 350 by 350, it distorts the image and also takes up 350 pixels of the screen for just that image, forcing everyone to grab the scrollbar just to see the top threads.
I suggest at least displaying the image at its intended dimensions (400 width by 300 height) or even better, reducing THOSE by half (200 by 100). This would give us all the glory of the image but wouldn't dedicate the top half of the webpage to the pic.
Re: Chit, your Thanksgiving images... ...and have you noticed that sometimes photoisland just refuses to serve up the picture? When that happens we get that "Community Logo" up there.
Re: Chit, your Thanksgiving images... Well it certainly pleases me, because it fits how I think people use the web. It's convenient and frugal with screen real-estate, getting down to the posts with as little delay as possible.
But we're not trying to please ME here. Even though I have too many opinions.
We want to please you and the reader simultaneously. You probably already knew the things I was bringing up. I just wanted to make sure.
So see how you like it. If you decide to go back to posting images at the top, that's great. I'll be comfortable knowing you understand the tradeoffs (style vs. function) and I'll be here if you need help with anything. Cause that's what I wanna do: help.
None of my opinions are as important as you feeling ownership and having fun. Msgboards can be a pain to manage sometimes, so don't let me snob-out one of your pleasures of maintaining it.
