A skin issue again
Yeah, I finally go the models to be viewable in Milkeshape!
Thanks for your suggestion with "Blender" but it wasn't much help, so i searched and found this nifty little program called "FBX Converter"
Anyway my problem is, i can't get the texturing correct, do you know what i can do? Because i just can't get it correct.
Ontop of that, on some of the models there is no groups! So when i click on a new "Material" i can't assign the textures as no groups are given
Any suggestions?
It would really be great if i could get this "Final fantasy" Pack finished, so any help at all would be greatful.

Re: A skin issue again
I'm not completely certain what you mean without seeing the problem. If you post the FBX convertor on the forum, I will download it, and walk through the process from conversion to texturing.

Re: A skin issue again
http://www.freewebs.com/ffxmodels/
BTW, i uploaded these models onto freewebs. I found most uploading sites remove the files within a month or two.
You should be able to get the collada models here, you can convert the models to FBX which milkeshape supports.
I found out you can convert them to ojb, 3ds and something else i can't remember, with the textures actually inbeded in the models! But the model looks all crushed together when you do this, i don't know why.

Re: A skin issue again
Sorry my gallery storage ^^
Here is a Pic of the model when I open it in milkeshape when converted to OJB/3DS/DXF/Collada
As you can see the model is all bunched together! However the textures are already embeded and not needed to be applied. If I open the model in FBX format the model is fine, but the textures are not applied.

Yeah -_-, but while the model is in this (god knows what lol) The textures are applied which means i don't need to mess around with applying them from scratch. (applying textures isn't my strong point). So i was thinking is there a different way of applying these textures without any need to "reapply" them?
I would be like to start rigging FF5,6,7,8,9 models some time soon...Now i have the basic skill i think i can manage, i'll have a go at rigging some of the weapons as well.
But meanwhile, i could use a bit of help with these textures if possible.

Re: A skin issue again
I will have to check it out myself, but if it is like other models I have ported it shouldn’t be too hard. It might be as simple as importing the textures, selecting a group and assigning it to the newly imported textures. Very often a ported model will retain the texture dimensions, but will lose the texture assignments. If the model is imported as one big group, then you will have to use MilkShape’s face selection tool and create your own groups and assign them to the appropriate textures. Take the GunnaYuna for example; I noticed this model has 11 textures. If it is imported as a single group you will need to break it into 11 groups that correspond to the 11 textures.

Re: A skin issue again
I've been trying to texture these models for like weeks, still can't get it right! Do you have any tips or advice for me? I just simly can't texture these models.
I manged to split the models into groups to apply textures though, i just got get the textures in the right place without everything looking all "out of place"

Re: A skin issue again
I would have to see the models in order to advise you. I havn't had the time to look because when I have some free time I am working on my own projects.
