Been lurking for months =)
I haven't been able to get my password for this place since I never wrote it down but it works now.
I've only been using the PC one day a week for the past four months or so due to the lighting in the workplace (slave market) I work for.
If I use the PC too much I get eyestrain that just makes me mad basically to the point where I squint and winch all day.
I just found tonight that Dell has a real affordable PC monitor called the G series
that was released in April. It uses a ((LED)) backlight and found a good post on the G series or the G2210 which is a 22" monitor and there is a 24" monitor.
I'm curious about this monitor because I seen someone post on a message board about
not being able to use CCFL LCDs but they can use LED.
Yet this thing might just fry my eyes like the past 3 LCD monitor I've bought and sold for lesss on ebay.
But then you have the guys on here talking about their LED LCD macbooks and eyestrain =)
I might try this monitor out a few months down the road or weeks.
The best remedy for eyestrain is take up a hobby and do something else like I went fishing today and caught a 20" Northern Pike I had a 30" Northern on but it spit out the hook =)

Re: Been lurking for months =)
I'm not even going to Bother with this piece of junk because even my projector which is LED gives me eyestrain it's not bad but I couldn't imagine a combination of both.
I want to try out a OLED device a MP3 player or whatever just to see if I like the display to consider it for the future.
Which seems to be about two more years off.

Re: Been lurking for months =)
LOL I went to Dells website to check out complaints of the monitor lol I'm glad I did some people complain the DVI port can't be found.
Then this guy says the monitor is flickering because it's a Green power saving feature lol
(I guess I'm staying away from this untill something better comes around.)

You have GOT to be kidding me!
"Flickering during power modes is expected'?
I've had a lot of monitors in my time. NONE flickered like this. Tell me mr Dell technician, whats the point of having a advertising a monitor on the point that is 'saves' power thru 'ambient light detection', WHEN that function clearly does works in a way that it's undesirable to use???
If this is to be expected, then it's a completely obvious design flaw and soon, as the word spreads, NO-ONE will buy this monitor.
I can't believe the arrogance of DELL in this situation. You guys are gonna get one *** of a wake up call soon, when you're out of business due to your shoddy customer service.

Re: Been lurking for months =)
LG just released a LED monitor maybe better then the flickering Dell G series? Stand looks really cheap but if it works for your eyes it might be something to look into.
Been reading on the Laptop forums that the dimmer the monitor is the more the LEDs flicker which cause eyestrain maybe who knows I sure don't know untill someone tests one of these things out with previous eyestrain.

OK, thanks - if you try the Dell & it works for you, keep us posted
Though I really don't understand why a dimmer monitor is associated with flickering. Unless that's the way it works with LEDs.
It's certainly not that way with my LCD.

Re: Been lurking for months =)
I didn't try the dell but I tried something similar at work today. It's a UPC bar code reader we got some new ones in today at Walmart. You scan the UPC and it tells you how many items to pick out of the bins.
The technology used for these things is a really small screen a LCD screen with like 4
LED backlites.
SO guess what after using this thing for about a hour and 1/2 my eyes are pretty screwed up I get a tingling in the face and eye sockets and
felt slightly dizzy.
So that puts out the DELL monitor out of the question I figure it's just as harsh as the bar code reader I use at work.
I only need to use these things once a week so I guess I can tolerate it but I can't tolerate the sales floor either because of all the florescent lights.
So I'm back on my PC at home trying to get my eyes re-alligned.
I heard that Dell led lcd is pretty washed out from the (Hard Forum) which is a computer hardware forum if your intrested all they talk about is LCDS on their and there is one thread devoted to CRTs.

Re: Been lurking for months =)
It's funny how everyone has a different idea of what "absolutely works for them" the latest being that Cryosin states the QLink works for him.
Interestingly, years ago, I read reviews by others who were wild over it.
But then, subsequently, I'd read a website (now defunct) by Derek Bishop who tried various anti-EMF devices including pendants which did not help him.
And that was my experience as well, not to mention that a physicist who founded NutriEnergetics had tested QLink as "ineffective".
What I'm thinking, is that maybe those who are prone to dizziness WITHOUT severe photosensitivity issues, may be helped by those anti-EMF devices more than those with eye issues.
There's something called Cosmodic which makes claims of regenerating the body. Would that work for people with severe issues like me? That's the question.
