HELP!!
I have taken on an 8yr old Male un-altered Cane-Corso. I love him so much and I want to keep him, BUT, he does not get along with one of my little dogs, also un-altered. NOW! the problem is I am unable at this time to get them neutered. I just do not have the funds. What advice can you give me other than constant vigilance and I do not leave them alone. The Corso goes everywhere with me. He is very very mellow, it is the little dog that has the attitude problem and does the growling. Would a muzzle be ok for a limited time. It is so draining, the constant vigilance. I am 66yrs old and on a Pension. I take him for long walks every day and he is well behaved and well socialized and generally pays little attention to other dogs. I had a situation where I was up in the hills and he was off leash and ran into two Shepherds and I thought, "OH OH" this is it but he was fine. They circled for a few minutes and then that was it. He is definetly not aggressive or an Alpha dog.

Re: HELP!!
call your local shelter or animal control and tell them your on a limited budget. Most of them have programs where they will fix your dogs for free.
You have to correct which ever dog is the problem. If the little one is starting it, you have to correct him. The trick is to step in before things get out of hand. If he starts growling, grab a big handful of skin on the back of his neck and in a low assertive voice say "no." Give him a little shake when you say this and then let him go, giving him eye contact the entire time. He needs to know your not messing around.
If the corso is causing the problems you will need to take a different approach, especially since you dont really know him. With a larger, more dangerous dog, most trainer will tell you that you need to teach the out and down command. You need to work the command until the dog does and out or down out of total instinct. That meaning working your dog daily. If he starts the problems you tell him "NO" "OUT" and then "DOWN." Make him hold the down for a few minutes. When it comes to a dangerous bread, theres no substitution for daily training. Its a must.
Just remember, never do an Alfa roll on a large dog that you do not know. These dogs are powerful and when you do an Alfa roll the closest thing to that dogs teeth will be your face...I think you get where Im going here. Not smart.
