Heard there were a lot of bulls making a good average too. Went to the pub tonight and met a bunch of Cymros (welshmen)on their way home. They had a good day.

…weeton sale
just home, trade was good but expected some of the better lots to make more, eg shark trolley-£6800, stormatic allyson-£6400. Bulls and young calves were really good trade! with quite alot of bulls over £3000 and calves went for a top price of £3200-Weeton Aaron EL Balise, Noel Willis, NI. We went as a group of over 40 from NI and were impressed with the hospitality and professionalism of the Loftus family!

Re: Weeton Sale
Second sale is this day week (29th).
Phoned for catalogue this morning so hopefully should get it tomorrow.
Had a quick glance through online catalogue though.
http://www.nortonandbrooksbank.com/files/WEETON.pdf
Seems to be plenty of good lots including loads of VG heifers. I noticed quite a few but didn't take time to count them.
Don't think I will be able to go this time, much as I would like to!
Too near the end of term which means exams coming up......

Weeton Sale
Once again we see Wills Bros. investing in top quality cow families. It is good they do so. They are clearly building up a fantastic herd of cows.I have no doubt that when the time is right for them they will make a professional job of marketing the progeny. I see this as being a great opportunity for other breeders to benefit....Here's wishing them every success !!!

Re: Weeton Sale
Was there anyone at the Weeton sale at all apart from Sandra???
With a heifer selling for 38,000gns, I thought everybody would be interested in this topic. Or has the novelty of cattle selling for high prices worn off?
Could someone please fill in those of us not fortunate enough to be there, with all the details not given in the N&B report.
http://www.nortonandbrooksbank.com/report/WEETON08REPORT.pdf
How much did lot 125 (Zebra S Jane VG87-2yr) make?
Lot 75 - Jackson Stampede VG88?
Lot 94 - Jackie SP Dot VG86-2yr?
Lot 151 - Sam Molly VG86-2yr?
Also lot 15 and 15A? (L Oralie EX91 and her January son by Dolman). Not the most exciting lots in the catalogue I know but I'm just curious.
Seems to have been a good sale overall. Makes the October sale look very small in comparison.
Letterkenny, I agree with what you said about Wills Bros. Thing is I think they will have so many good cows and families that it will be nearly impossible to market them all to their full potential. But if they invest in advertising and showing etc to the extent thay have in the cattle themselves then that will be no problem.
By the way, welcome to Cowtalk!

Re: Weeton Sale
I think you will see Willsbro start to actively market families from now on, but that is because they are at a stage that they can.
What many people seem to forget is that really in terms of the pedigree job, they have only been in it a very short space of time.
Yes they have been actively buying great stuff at sales, but it takes a while for this to filter through to their own prefix.
Flushing, . . . .cows calving it all takes a minimum of 12 months to really see any real results.
Walking round their cows is like walking into a who's who of the pedigree world. . . . .You have hutches with Licorice and Pledge in. . . . .pens with Lila Z and Doris in, Red Jodies, Laurie Shieks, you name it and there there and whilst this may sound strange to some from across the water, one of the biggest jewels in the crown . . . .is the Sara family, I've said it before on this forum, but this cow family, generally remains untouched other than here in the UK. . . . .I stick by what I said and I strongly believe the INtegrity Sara will establish herself as one of the breeds greatest brood cows here in the UK, She is already 7 stars !

Whats the guy Phillips herd prefix? What did the L Oralie (lot 15) look like? Being biased but was she not quite reasonably priced or was there something wrong with her?

anybody know what 53a made? Surprise to me it was mentioned in the catalogue we had a bull out of that family. His daughters are fantastic 1 at 91 1 at 90 the other day with others looking equally capable. If i had the time i would of gone and shown some serious interest in that bull any ideas where he went?
