Should be a fantastic sale. . . .some really big household names selling, and a great opportunity to see all at Arethusa.

All I can say is you'll have to keep checking the website. . . .details will be released each week, meanwhile if anyone is interested in the trip, feel free to get in contact, the tour will definitely be life in luxury. . . (one the wives or women in your life will enjoy too)

I got to visit Arethusa for their open house last year. It's a lovely facility and the cows are gorgeous! It's not a long haul for me to get there, but I'd recommend it to anyone who can make it. The show should be wonderful.

With the US dollar being in the crapper, I would think this may be a good opportunity for some of you, to see a nice sale, and a really nice vacation.

Another exciting animal that has been confirmed for the sale, is the Unanimous All American 2yr old - Eskdale Dundee Marcia Mona, she sells fresh in June. . . .Surely a great prospect for Madison.

Talked to someone in the know today, and she is going to sell with sons and daughters as a package. The desired number is $1,000,000.

Re: Global Glamour at Arethusa

Talked with David the other day, he figures about 800k for Apple. I was seeing if I could consign the Shottle I bought last year, but their catalog was closed..

Should be an interesting sale, I am thinking about going down to see what they go for, vs hearing/reading what they went for. Should be an interesting sale. I wouldn't be surprised if the average is 40-50k, we'll see.

Give me some, Wabash-Way EmilyAnn-ET. She is the buzz of the area, and the combination of Shottle on the number one CTPI cow Crockett Acres Elita. Shottle X Oman X Mtoto. Elita is a monster of an Oman going 63".

How many embryos has she produced? Surely after the next index run, this one could be the one to make money from?

I don't know. Rumors abound of a good flush to Goldwyn. That info is at least a month old. I suspect she is due to flush soon.

Re: …

More lots have been added to the already unreal line-up. There seem to be a lot of Red & White opportunities in the sale as well as fancy heifers and young cows. I too have been to Arethusa a couple of times - I highly recommend taking the trip if you have a chance. It will be one to go down in Holstein History!

Apple doesn't sell with her daughters as a package as I understand it. They sell seperately. I have heard projections of closer to $2 million for both Apple and Mona. I have also heard that Apple and Mona are just selling to get them hyped for Expo and that they will never leave Arethusa. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.

So a million per cow, totaling 2, or 2 per cow? and are you saying it will be mostly on paper? That is not uncommon, it happens many times over.. Makes for good marketing. I dug up a thread on here about Lila Z, and someone had said her reserve was set at 1 million. Was it a "true" reserve, or was that the base number, and she actually sold for 150,000? Just speculating here.

It will be closer to $2 million a piece. Everybody who is anybody will know what they sell for and no judge in his right mind would place a $2 million cow lower then second at Expo. It will all be on paper the only thing that will happen in my opinion is some partnerships will change slightly. And it is good marketing but it is also kind of a shame. They are two of the best young cows in the breed right now I think they deserve more respect than that. It would mean more to me for one of them to win Expo without bringing an insane amount of money. I have never heard of a reserve being set on a live cow, I have heard of it before on embryos and picks of flushes. That number was probably what somebody thought she would bring.

Re: Global Glamour at Arethusa

Not sure Arethusa would buy a $2 million dollar red cow to stand 2nd next to Ernie's red cow? Rumor is the Josie cow was fresh as of last Thursday and looks pretty impressive. Should be interesting to say the least.

Re: Global Glamour at Arethusa

I agree, it would completely discredit the sale. I don't think thats what they want to do. However, as a judge I would love to have a two million dollar cow walk into my ring. If she isn't on the money put her where she belongs. Talk about making a name for yourself, it would be remembered for a long time.

Mona is a one off show cow without enough backing her to justify that money.

Apple is a different matter being a top show cow, and a red member of a top end family. I see her bringing big bucks, but I don't see anyway she crosses $1,000,001

Re: Global Glamour at Arethusa

If you scroll up. Someone who is helping to manage this sale (selections, leads for them, etc), figured on 800k. I figure between 750k-1mil.

Also as far as showing goes. I'd be scared to show something that I paid that much for.. Besides, I do not buy something for 5 figures to show, I buy into the family (I know we are talking 6 to 7 figures, but the typical 5 figure mark). I certainly hope that is what she is being bought for, and not only to win at WDE.. Didn't Penlow Georgette Outside that brought 500k+ get Honorable Mention, and NOT grand at RWF?

Jodie is now EX94 CAN 74 days fresh, might squeeze another point out of it later.
