National Convention sale

Can anyone give us a bit of a run down, on the sale prices, what was top etc, Heard rumour, the Goldwyn X Atlee calf made good money, but where did she go and who to. . ..curious, because full siblings to it due soon.

What looked well, what was the Goldwyn like from the Shottle X Lila Z?

Any reports, appreciated.

Re: National Convention sale

The Canadian National Convention Sale kicked off the festivities at the 2008 Holstein Canada Convention in London, Ont., on Wednesday evening, March 26th, with 78 consignments selling for an unofficial average of $10,044. A huge crowd was on hand for the sale at the Western Fair Agriplex which was under the management of Hanover Hill Sales & Service and Brubacher Sales Ltd.

Sparking the night’s top bid of $87,000 was Allyndale-I Goldwyn Avery, a March 2007 “Goldwyn” heifer calf who sold in absentia to Brian Polikowsky of Minnesota. Consigned by Velthuis Farms Ltd., Osgoode, Ont., she is a daughter of MD-Delight Durham Atlee-ET (Ex-92-USA-DOM), the 2005 All-American senior 3-year-old by “Durham” with records to 17,368 kg milk, 5.5% fat, 3.3% protein. A fourth generation Excellent or Very Good, Atlee traces to the noted Aitkenbrae Starbuck Ada (Ex-94-2E-USA-4*).

Scientific Gold Dew Rae-ET, a December 2006 “Goldwyn” yearling from the Roxy family, brought $67,000 on a bid from Triple Crown Genetics and Kingsmill Farms of the United States. Consigned by Hanover Hill Holsteins, Phoenix Bros. and Jeff Woods of Ontario and Wisconsin, this Red Carrier heifer is a daughter of Scientific Debutante Rae-ET (Ex-92-USA), the “Durham” who was reserve grand champion at World Dairy Expo and All-American 4-year-old in 2005.

Third high seller at $65,000 was Whittier-CF Gold Lila-ET, a September 2007 “Goldwyn” granddaughter of the famous Lylehaven Lila Z (VG-89), who was purchased by Velthuis Farms Ltd., Mary Inn Holsteins and Chartroise Holsteins of Ontario and Ohio. Consigned by Todd J. Whittier of Massachusetts and Cybil Fisher of Wisconsin, she is from a Very Good-87-USA “Shottle” dam, followed by the two-time All-Canadian Lila Z.
