But Guernseys would be at the top of that list if there was one. Beating Dexters by a short head.

Every breed has its merits smous, you have to look hard sometimes but they do!

yes you are right
i think each breed should be developed in the area it comes from and one day it will be needed
i am sorry to see people just following world fashions in breeding eg in sweden young folk are not developing SRB to full potential but rather following the Holstein route
do not get me wrong the holstein is the most important breed on the dairy scene but the need to develop alternatives is great and will be rewarding in the long run

I dont mean to carry on but are you saying smous that dexters are better than guernseys????? so you's rather had a field full of dual purpose animals to "milk" whats a dexters herd ave 500l???? at least some guernseys are doing 7000l at 4.5 % f & 3.5 % p

I am not a Guernsey fan Salsy, but they are probably way more profitable than Dexters.

A lot of Dexter people would argue with that Smous. I have never met a more "enthusiastic" bunch, and God help if you if you dare to criticise. emoticon

Your spot on their cherryman, but then alot of them are hobby farmers that keep abit of land and run few dexters to show and good on them its more of a hobby to them. so i guees they have more sentiment to their animals

The ones I have spoken to would take issue with that too salsy101. They tend to go to great lengths to justify them as a commercial proposition, it's just everyone else hasn't realised yet. emoticon
