Indiana State Show/ Lowell Lindsay.
Attended Indiana State Show this weekend, forgot who was Junior Champ or Reserve Junior Champ. However, Grand was a Jr. 3 Rubens owned by Bertch and Iager, Reserve was a 4yr old Durham owned by Kuehnerts. The best part of the show was watching him bury a huge winter calf. This calf was three or four inches bigger than anything else and was from the same farm that bred the super large December calf at Madison in 06. Lowell had them second to last or dead last. It was nice to see a judge who had the balls to do what was necessary.

Re: Indiana State Show/ Lowell Lindsay.
They have to be good before they have to be big! I heard that she was just the latter of the two - Big!

Jeash, WHat animals caught your eye there? WHo had toe good strings? Who won Breeder and exhibitor banners? I went to that state show a couple of years ago and thought it was a really nice show.
I have always respected Lowell's judging - wants quality animals before they have to be big. Rare for an AI judge to want that.

Re: …
Classcow, you are testing my memory. I didn't get to see much of the show because I was helping a friend out but here is what I remember. The good strings were Penicks and Prices, I seem to remember Penicks having a really good day in the heifer classes. I also remember the Jones family having a nice string. The one animal that stood out was the the Jr. 3 Reubens. Tall, long, silky, with beautiful udder and a really good set of F&L.If I had to nitpick I would want some more width throughout. They had just negotiated a six figure price for the cow earlier that week. So, somebody else loved the cow too. I would say she is an easy top five cow at Madison. I don't remember too many heifers, I never get excited about heifers. Overall, I would agree about Lyndsey. They only had to be big enough.

Re: Indiana State Show/ Lowell Lindsay.
One other thing, this was probably the best state show I can remember as far as numbers and quality. I was surprised to see as many animals out because the show was located away from most of the state's dairies and fuel prices are high. Next years show location will be in Elkhart County which is two hours east of Chicago.
