On track for Madison?

What is the current height to be on track for Madison for fall calves?

I've got a Dundee that's 55.5. She hasn't stopped growing yet - but there's always bigger ones out there.

Re: On track for Madison?

I would guess they need to be at least 56-57 by Expo time. I would hope a heifer that is less than a year old hasn't stopped growing yet.

Re: On track for Madison?

I dont keep up with how big they need to be but it boggles my mind when u think about the numbers that need to be reached for the big shows. Does anyone ever think about this besides me? A Holstein that is 60 scores ( or is supposed to) score a 50 on stature yet we need fall calves to be 57 at just over 1 yr? Im all into the show end and i like big cows but when do we decide that there is big and big enough? Do we really need 65 inch fall yearlings etc.

Re: On track for Madison?

I was curious and measured ours today and I kept getting between 55.5 and 56. Those 65 inch fall yearlings don't often make cow.

Re: On track for Madison?

Do you have all the measurs for each age starting from 6 month old to 24 months? I would be interested to have them.
