WHO WILL BE THE NEXT GRAND CHAMPION OF MADISON?

Would she be the Tony Charity of the Brown Swiss?

That would probably be fair, but I would point out that she is also a tremendous brood cow, and her sons are coming through with good proofs as well. The last count I saw on her had her over 230 embryos produced. She is still making top milk records as well.

Snickerdoodle is undefeated in class in milking form. She is 11 years old. Get a look at her now, she may only have 5 or 6 more years left. emoticon

I was looking forward to seeing the Goldwyn Lili that won last year, but doesn't look like she'll be making any shows now. . .real shame.

Re: World Dairy Expo 2009

Sounds like it should be another great Expo. Good luck to everybody. Wish I was going to be there, but at least there is great coverage with the internet these days.

Re: World Dairy Expo 2009

Took a walk around.. Hazel is good, I beleive I did see James Rose (no sign up), but it looks like her. She looks good. Apple is also here, looks decent. But after seeing Roy Frosty, that cow is a real contender.. IMO a better cow than Hazel.. More front end, more frame, better texture in her udder, and a better rear udder. I wont be here for the show, so it will be interesting to see how she does.. We Have a Jersey on Tuesday, then gone on Wed to head home.

Ya know one thing I would say about the facilities here. The main arena is nice, but the barns at Harrisburg and Carousel are far better.. The barns here are worse than our county fair and do not do these animals any justice. Nice grounds though.

The facilities definitly are sub par at Madison, its always fun walking expensive cattle on sloped, slick asphault.

Re: World Dairy Expo 2009

Good day at Madison. We placed 1st in the winter calf class (Jersey).. Also a very cool thing happened today, a local ayrshire got grand today, and whats neat about this cow is it is a B&O animal for those who won. Redpepper is her name, was reserve supreme at the NYS fair, was grand in the junior show here last year, HM grand in the open show last year.. She was supreme in both the junior AND open show at our local fair. Great cow, and not your typical ayrshire, very correct, good leg, great udder.. This cow is keeping the owner alive (keeping his spirits up (long story)..

Also that picture doesn't do ol' roy frost justice..

From what Mike was telling us, she is milking 170lbs a day. I do like Hazel, but I like this cow more.

I'm quite certain, I think, that "Holstein World" is covering the show via video. Just go to their website and follow instructions.

Looks like she was not shown in this class. Does it mean that she will be shown in the B&W show or that the contenders decided that she had not enough chance for a good result?

World Dairy Expo 2009

Watched the shows the last 2 days - boy the R&Ws have come a LONG way - strong classes al the way to the end. Not really a dominant cow but the right cow was Grand in my eyes. Judge Hill redeemed himself to me after watching him do the B&W a few years back. He did a nice job.

A little hard to follow Mark in the heifer show today - no real pattern - but he, for the most part to me - had the best ones on top. Great heifers all the way to the end. Maybe 3 or 4 heifers in the entire show that I would have been embarrased to lead there.

Rose looks GREAT. I think everyone else is trying to get the pink banner. The cow ia amazing. Hazel looks stale and word is she is not going out. Frosty's legs do not look good in stall so I will wait to see them out - they can change so much. I think that The Lheros in Pierre's string and the Gin cow will give her all she want sin class. Bingland Leduc Nancy is my stlall pick for Reserve. If she had a wider rear udder - she might beat Rose, but too narrow at the top. An AWESOME dairy frame and legs on that cow. MANY tremendous cows - cant wait for tomorrow.

Snickerdoodle looked amazing. Ahe is what it is all about. I think she is the Charity for the Swiss. A living Legend. Would love to see her age appreciated when Supreme comes around and I don; tlike Swiss!!LOL It is hard coming home every night and facin gmy own herd after looking at the beauties all day!
