Re: World Dairy Expo 2009
quote: How did the sale go? There was one supposed to come to the UK, a Mark Williams from Wales had thought he bought a calf for $2700, to find out she had actually made $27k! is this true? Thay should get rid of the bar next to sale ring!
Definitely not. . .I was stood near your fellow countrymen for most of the sale and the guy in question definitely didn't even bid on an animal. . .so wherever you got your information from it's wrong!!! Even with a bar there. . .(a fantastic idea!) it would be hard to make a balls up on the auction price like you suggest. . .it gets repeated enough times!

Re: World Dairy Expo 2009
I think that the AI studs know they opened a pandora's box when they brought out genomics. In four years when breeders are allowed to test their own bulls the breeders will hold all the cards. You won't see AI studs lucking out by buying good bulls for $3500 anymore. The studs know this and are trying to buy their own female lines for flushing and future bulls.

Re: World Dairy Expo 2009
They must have high expectations for her to be back as an older cow? She just doesn"t seem like that francise type cow?? Thats just my opinion, not taking anything away from her accomplishments so far!

Re: World Dairy Expo 2009
They are thinking that she will be a good bull mother. Here in North America sons of show cows sell well as young sires. For example Durham, Dundee, Atwood, Atlantic, Astronomical ect.
