Hunching in the Ring

I have a heifer right now that hunches up really bad while in the ring. Just looking for tips or suggeestions on something to cure this. It's getting frustrating because it seems to be the only thing holding her back

You're not the lad freezing those poor pets with cold water before you go into the ring, are you?

i asked for that trick last year because one pulled her back down. Funny thing is, this calf is a sister to the one that pulled down last year, with the exact opposite problem. I'm guessing nobody has any suggestions

I think either she's cold or she's not relaxed on the halter. Maybe try a warm blanket on her back before she gets in the ring. Or else walk it out of her.

Best of luck with it!

Re: Hunching in the Ring

I like the warm blanket advice, it should really help her topline too. I am sure whoever blows her top up would like it.

The blanket dosent have to weigh a ton jeash. In this day and age synthetic materials give us these options.

in the olden days they had show sticks and Ive seen many an animal cop a wack on the ribs to get her to straighten up.show sticks were also useful for (in my observation) poking the animal ahead of you and making her jump unbeknowst to the handler just as the judge was wanting her stood up.
