posticon SRB- bulls

Here are my experience of some srb bulls

Orraryd A realy favorite emoticon
I have many first calvers out of him and they are in good size, have very nice udders , ( very suitable for robotmilking ) Very good feet & legs and very calm temperament.
The only negative - he gives slowmilking daughters ( & that is not so good in robotsystem )

A other bull we now have many milking daughters out of is the Norweigen bull Lien He´s polled & our daughters to him are to. But thats the only good thing about that bull. I´m very disipointed ! They look like little meatballs. Small & very short teats. They don´t milk anything, only about 20 kg./day. We srb breeders are jused to much moore milk !!
Now, i have many pregnancy with Öygarden ( also NRF ) i hope he gives better cows then Lien

Another favorite is J-Valon my heifers out of him is nowe about 15 months and are inseminated. They look very nice, but maybe a little bit nervous.

Peterslund have we jused a lot the last 2-3 years. The only negativ is that he could give a little bit more milk.

The danish bull Vest Andy is also a good experience. Very nice udders and legs.

Today, my favorite bull is Andersta he´is polled. I have used him a lot the last months.

sorry about the spelling, hope u all understand !

SRB- bulls

Hej Camilla

Fin Hjemmeside du har. We have Lien-heifer to. 3 are perfect size only one is little, from a Mansågardcow. I think you will do good using David http://dansire.it-gaarden.dk/rdm/tyr.asp?breed=1&hbnr=36099&type=Brugsplan on them.

Tack !

You, know ! I think i was to quick to judge my Lien daughters, they really have improved ! Milkyield has gone up & they function very well today. But still they are small !!

About the Danish bull David http://dansire.it-gaarden.dk/rdm/tyr.asp?breed=1&hbnr=36099&type=Brugsplan and the other Danish bull Bankok
http://dansire.it-gaarden.dk/rdm/tyr.asp?breed=1&hbnr=35965&type=Brugsplan we can use here in Sweden.
They seem to be very interesting, but unfortuntely they are 25 % Holstein
 emoticon
We can if we wish, use them on our srb-cows, but then the calf will not be 100 % purebreed SRB ,and i don´t think we can register them in the SRB herdbook ?? And the calf will not be accepted as a bulldam. I will take 2 generations until it again is 100 % purebreed SRB.

But i´m very much look forward to use moore Danish bulls ( without Holstien blood )

One of the best so far is ( in my herd ! ) Vest Andy. Great legs & udders emoticon

Good udder traits excluding ligament, extreme dairyness but lacking capacity.

Very high PL bull.

Ive seen a few and they are very true to his proof. Super temperament as well!

Re: …

What did everyone use on B Jurists.. first 1 here has calved and is milking at above the average milk yield of her Holstein herdmates. Calving ease on the SRB appears to be real it makes Holsteins look a complete joke.

First Jurist calved a couple of days ago with a Jordan bull calf. She is a little immature and lacks strength somewhat but I think she will grow into a nice cow.If she was a pure holstein I would have her at about 79-81 points.I will either serve her to Mitey-P or possibly use her as a recip.

I am more than quite impressed! How does 37-38 kg compare with her dam and your other, current heifers?

Re: …

Her dam is a Lucente that also calved at 2/2 but she only peaked at 31kg ending up at 8200.Grand dam was by Cogent Major and only gave 6300 as a heifer.Compared to the other heifers she is right up there for her age.

Re: …

The BJurist here is also off a lucente dam which was giving around 28kg milk adjusted to 4% fat. The Jurist is giving 32kg/day adjusted to 4% fat and will be bred to Orraryd having had a Peterslund heifer calf.

Anyone know about registering SRBs in UK ?

Re: SRB- bulls

I have a jurist and a peterslund both about a month calved. Both are good heifers, smaller than average, good in the udder, particularly the jurist. Milking around that 28 litre mark, so not pushing boundaries. On the whole, tidy heifers. I think they are the kind I need to reserve judgement on until 3rd calf.

They both had heifer calves to holstein. Very small calves, look like a pair of twins actually. No assistance required, calves are doing well - just had to start them off real easy.

Re: SRB- bulls

We are milking 8 bjurists and 1 peterslund, all calved without problems. The calves were by a SRB stock bull bred by orraryd and the calves are small but very wick! The bjurists are compact and have superb legs and feet and are giving similar milk yields as my holstien heifers, around the 28 litre mark. The peterslund heifer is taller dispite being 22 months, but doesnt look to have as good an udder as the bjurists. Im planning on putting them back to SRB, not sure wich bull yet. Very happy so far!

SRB- bulls

I'm milking mostly Peterslund daughters (crossed with Holstein) and B Jurists. I also have a few Lars thrown in for good measure. I couldn't be more happy with my Peterslunds. Also very happy with most of the B Jurists too. The Lars daughters are below average production wise but still have plenty of time to mature into nice cows.

I will have plenty of production data and a side-by-side comparison with my purebred Holsteins by year's end, I am guessing. Along with many O Brolin daughters on their way.

Currently using Peterslund, O Brolin, Arbelunda, and Hallom on my virgin heifers. Getting a shipment of Edbo for use on cows.

SRB- bulls

I really like the Peterslund crosses I see here: long and strong with shallow udders. B Jurists are more compact with deeper rib, long term viability of their udders worries me.

The udder health is a consideration, but not overly so. I actually don't pay a ton of attention to it on the Holstein side of things either. SCC and mastitis prevention is one of the stronger aspects of the management on our farm so this isn't something that'll scare me off.

Plus I don't plan on using a ton of Edbo. If he's not in our sire rotation for heifer breeding, I wouldn't anticipate even getting more than 10 heifers from him in the long run, given my usage pattern on cows.

A Linne looks to be quite a good bull at present.. might use some later in the year.
