FRADON REDLINER

I am just curious on peoples thoughts of this bull. How would you say to best use him?

Re: FRADON REDLINER

I have half a dozen cows bred to him, they start coming in May. Rudolph Jodie seems to be an exceptional brood cow. She had 3 daus. classify VG first lact. just today. 2 Gibsons and a Sept. Storm. That makes 12 daus. scoring- 1EX, 10VG AND 1GP. from quite a range of sires, including Red Marker, Encounter and Redman. Her deviations over herdmates is also impressive.
To answer your question as to where to use him, I'm not sure. I just used him on anything that had red genetics, not a big risk I don't think. Perhaps your more ribby cows, considering Talent and Rudolph.

Re: FRADON REDLINER

We have four heifers, very small when they were first born, but give them 4-5 months and they are some of the best calves in the pens, Tall, Long and very dairy, but again only 4-5 months old. so I'm sure they'll change some more.

not to rain on the redliner parade, but with rudolph in the pedigree he makes me nervous for those that have been using him on anything and everything because his reputation is that he is going to be the next big thing.

FRADON REDLINER

Have a 3 week old r&w Redliner ET heifer calf from a popular maternal line. Problem is she has a deformed hock, she gets around fine but it looks goofy. Almost like a knee and not a hock on the rear leg. I think she will be a functional cow but never showable or saleable as I had hoped. The crazy thing is, I've heard of at least three other breeders in PA and MD who've had redliner calves with birth deformities. I wonder if this is just coincidence, or is there something genetically up here? Anybody else seen or heard this?

There is a reason all your AI reps keep calf deformity forms on hand. They are used mostly for young sires, but it can and does happen where a bull is a mess.

none of my reps had ever heard of a deformity form, I asked becuase it sounded interesting. My neighbor has a redliner that is two weeks old and is missing half of it's ribcage on one side and at least one rib on the other side. It's a hell of a looking thing but otherwise healthy and aggressive. People need to stop using the bull until they get this figured out. Looking at his pedigree, if doubling up aerostar is where this recessive is coming from we are a breed in deep s***.

All my reps have them.

I have one from Select Sires on hand. It goes into alot of detail.

I know of at least 5 cases of Redliner calves being born with deformities or dead! I won't be using this bull until they can figure out what is happening with his calves. On a positive note, the 'normal' calves I have seen are quite nice!
